I actually tried to be all nice and perky and friendly to everyone last month at a Bible conference thing I went to, and some people hated me for being that way. They would say, "You stupid prep!" or "Your a prep. I hate preps". Funny, all the people who don't like me use the word prep to describe me...

If I were a betting man (which I am not), I would say that it is their problem, rather than yours. Reguardless -- am praying that you meet like-minded believers to fellowship with, and be friends with.

I understand how hard it is to develope real friends. I really don't have any true friends right now. I have lots of acquaintences and people I call friends, but no one really to call and share my joys and sorrows with.
I tend to be very self contained. It is a big issue for both me and my girlfriend as she is not totally disimilar to me in that way. We struggle with the friendship element of our relationship.
One positive of this is I talk to and rely more on God. Maybe you can take the same view.

We ask You to touch the lives of these people who are in need of friends. Bring just the right people into their lives that will be close friends to them. Help them also FATHER to be a friend unto others. Let each of us seek what is best for those we meet rather than what is good for us. Fill our hearts, O LORD, with thy love that we might share it wholeheartedly with those You deem to bring into our lives. Help us, Dear GOD, to be a blessing unto all that we meet and in turn we also shall be blessed.

I will be praying that you find some true christian friends. It is difficult now-a-days to find good, true friends. I'm still searching myself. But they are out there. I'll pray for you.

A "prep" is usually someone who believes they are better than someone/everyone else or dress a certain way. It is usually related to people that go to preparatory school. Although most people use that description wrong. They use it more as a slang term. Hope that helps!
