  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My in-laws sleep in twin beds because they can't sleep with each other, but they have a great marriage.

I'm sorry but nothing you could say would make me believe that.

regardless, I will not do it, it's out of the question.

update, we tried the fan, but still had a bad night last night

4jacks, what about buying a better bed? It DOES make a difference.... there are a lot of beds now that have the technology to not disturb your partner, tell them you guys are bothering each other....

We REALLY REALLY REALLY want one of those new space aged ones, but right now we are going through some financial troubles.

I kinda think this is a test from god to see if we will run out and slap $2k on the credit cards

Wellll until you can get a "space aged" one.... maybe you could look into cheaper options that are still useful. We have a "Do Not Disturb" Beautyrest.... Simmons I think..... we spent 400 dollars on it. We DID buy a floor model though to get it down to that price. Beds are one of those things where the sales people are given some ability to offer discounts. So even with a new one you can talk them down a little bit. Another thing we did, but its been 6 years, I remember we got another discount, 10% or something, if we bought it on the store's credit card. So we did that, then paid it the next month so there was no interest. The 400 dollars includes frame and boxsprings.... if all you need is the mattress I am sure you could get it for 400 dollars if you just shop smart. I should note also we were living in Minneapolis in case you're going to accuse me of it being my area why it was cheap. :p

First of all...why do people let animals sleep in their beds?!! Dogs?! Get them off of your bed. That has to make a difference.

Second, get a better mattress. We're having sleep problems lately too, and I know it's because of the mattress. In our case we're both sinking into the center of the mattress. It just makes for bad backs and crummy sleep.

Finally, you're developing your sleep styles. I know you guys have been married 4.5 years, but sometimes I think these things take a while to sort out. For instance, after 15 years, my husband still doesn't understand why it makes me nuts when he rubs my butt when we're sleeping. He says it helps him fall asleep and yet it wakes me up! So stop it! But he still does it...15 years and counting. Sometimes I let it go, sometimes I smack him. But we're working on it!

Have Heather get some ear plugs. I use them when my husband is snoring. Also, tell her to tape you. I'm sure you're snoring and you don't know it. Oh, those nose tapes work great too. I snored horribly when I was pregnant and those and a cold air humidifier next to my head did wonders for me.

She keeps threatining to tape me, but she's not technically advanced enough ... heheh

Why don't you people understand about the dogs?? You're taking a minimum of 20 years off your life. The dogs pretty much know that during bed time they are not allowed on the bed, but they as soon as one of us gets up they jump up to take that spot, it's kinda funny. And every know and then Monty will try to sneak up by my feet.

Any other time they are allowed on the Bed.

Just an idea...but what if you put the mattress on the floor to sleep on? Until you get a new bed or whatever...

how would removing the frame and box spring thing help?

It just occured to me that the twin mattress idea doesn't even require a new bedframe or spring. If you already have a king size bed, you could plunk the twins right on top of the spring and frame you already have. Then you can technically say that you are still sleeping in the same bed.

When we had the sleep number bed we did this. It was cheaper to buy 2 twins, but in order to fit our king bed frame and box springs it had to be twin, extra long. So be aware that the length is diff for a king and a twin slightly.

We have ALWAYS had seperate blankets for our entire 13 year marriage. We have 5 kids so it has not stopped the romance!;)

The fan takes a couple of weeks to get used to. And get those big doggy beds for the mutts and keep them in the other room. They'll get used to it and they won't be waking you up early.

i thought about this right when i read your OP. (remember the mystery shopping posts?).

Try sleeping head to toe. I do that sometimes when my dh is restless. i sleep better and enjoy my deep sleep with some good ole' fashioned snores (yes- "I am woman...hear me snore!!"). our mattress is horrible and we cant afford a new one either. but sometimes sleeping this way helps for me.

My dogs kennel is actually two of the largest wire frame crates put together, I took off a side from each and assembled them together. They have three of those large pillow things inside.

The point is we don't want to keep them in there ALL Night and all Day. If we sleep for 8 hours and then work for eight hours that is 16 hours out of the day that they are in thier with only a small break in the morning while we are getting ready for work.

All she needs is a voice activated tape deck. I've got one around here somewhere...I'll mail it to her.

I grew up with dogs and cats and birds and aligators and turtles and fish and squirrels...you name it, we rescued it. But our dogs were NEVER allowed on the furniture.

After I moved out on my own and actually had to buy decent furniture, I know why. Animals wreck your stuff! Sure they're great to have in the house, but just not on the furniture.

Okay, if you have dogs or cats or whatever as long as you own the furniture you can decide what goes on it, right? Okay, moving on...
Maybe you can ask Heather to use her bodyweight to shake the bed just enough to get you to stop snoring. Hitting my husband for snoring would really hurt him and I don't mean physically. I just shake the bed a bit, he falls out of his snoring pattern and we both go back to sleep. As for her being "too short", can't you use two blankets? Share one and then you use a smaller one to cover up the foot or so from your torso to your neck. Snug as a bug in a rug and you still get to share a blanket. Good Luck!

This is a stupid question but how much caffine do you use?

if you're drinking a lot of caffiene late in the day it might be making for a restless sleep, you might want to just try cutting back caffiene except for in the mornings....

If you don't drink a lot of caffiencve then I'll add a vote to the get two beds colum

I drink very little soda and no Coffee

Heather drinks coffee in the morning most of the time, and sometimes has Diet Coke in the Day time, but not really before bed...

And we are not Voting on Getting two Beds. There is no WAY I am doing that. It's out of the Question.
