There's another tropical storm headed toward the southeast of the USA, tropical storm Isaac. It will hit the southern tip of Florida Monday, when the Republican convention will be held in Tampa. I wouldn't wish a tropical storm or hurricane on anybody, I feel sorry for Republicans. This will give Florida a bad name. Some years ago hurricane Charley hit my town and things were pretty bad. I stayed in my house during the storm. Our house only had minor damage. We've had work done on the house since then, not just repairs but tile floors and a new kiitchen put in, the linai has plastic sliding doors/windows. That should protect the linai/porch better. We brought in the light potted plants and statues. The other plants in pots outside are too heavy for the wind to pick up.
We have two statues out by the oak tree in the front yard of a Dutch boy and girl that are kissing, you put the boy and girl together like they're kissing, my mom and I painted them, we bought them from a garage sale and had to super glue the Dutch boy's head back on and re-paint them becasue the paint was peeling. It was a fun project. The little boy is holding a bunch of spring bulb flowers for the little girl behind his back, as a surpise, painting the flowers was really fun. We turned them over and laid them down carefully beside the tree. They are too heavy to bring in. My dad secured the garabge cans behind the lattice work with a rope. So we have everything ready. I don't thik we will need to board up windows.
With a huricane you need fresh drinking water, we have that, a manual can opener, cans of tuna and food, if the power goes out you need flash lights and batteries, it is not safe to use candles, we have bread, peanut butter, fruit, jelly, the cars are ful of gas, so we are prepared.
