  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

25 years ago I started dating this girl named Trixie mostly cause my mom liked her so much cause she was just a very descent human being.

My birthday is the 14th of Dec. and Trixie's is the 12th,so 25 years ago I buried a bottle of Aspi Spumanti on the 13th of Dec. in the back yard and I told Trixie that we would dig it up in 10 years when we were married.I never married Trixie cause at the time I thought I could do better,I was rich and not completely horrifying to look at.I gotta tell ya,Mom was right.

Oh well, regrets seem to build with every year.

Now every year passes and that bottle of champagne get's older and older.
I think I will make a big deal about it if I ever dig it up,for years I've considered digging it up but I keep putting it off.Trixie is married now but should I try and involve her in it? theres the dilema.

I doubt I have another relationship but maybe if I meet a nice girl one day that I'll just lie and tell her { sweety I buried this bottle 25 years ago and promised myself that if I met {The ONE} I'de dig this bottle up and celebrate with her and allthough I was married twice,I still held out looking for that magic and today I know I have found her.

yup that sounds good

What are the chances of me meeting a girl with a name like Trixie Hand again. duhh, what was I thinking?

I don't think you should involve her at all! She's married ! I would never pop a champane bottle with anyone but my husband. But that's just how I feel.

^_^ Yeah, that's a great way to start a relationship! With a lie!!

Just tell your future soul mate that it was meant for Trixie but you are so glad you never opened it with her because now you have saved it for the both of you... Or something like that! :D

Is lying wrong? Is that wrong? Well it was completely normal with my last 2 marriges. If that's wrong then somebody should have told me from jump street.

Maybe your right though, next time I might begin with the truth.

^ I was thinking of George Castansa when he was being fired by his boss for having relations with the maid at the office. Is that wrong? Is that wrong?

Of course lying is wrong!
Believe me, marriages will fall apart if both parties aren't honest with each other. Me and my husband tell each other everything! What we do wrong, our worldly lusts, our sins of the day, how we think we could be better persons. No matter how much it may hurt the other. I believe that is why we are so close!:pink:

To be sure your sin will find you out and it will be much worst than if the truth be told from the start. ;)

I always told my girls to tell the truth, let them that hear the truth believe the lie if they so wish. The fact will come out that you told the truth at a time when lies would be expected, eg. usually in the face of some type of reprisal.

My daughter enjoyed telling the truth, she would see where people were not ready for the truth, and she would tell it. The tales that she would tell of instances where she was not believed and the ensuing events that followed. She could tell the truth with such a straight face, that people could not tell if she was kidding or not. She was smart enough to have her ducks in a row for when it was time for proof, and it would confound them. The turmoil that it caused.....it was food for fodder at the supper table.

We all have regrets, hun, but that doesn't mean that you can't find a nice girl who'll be a good wife and companion to you. If you give up, Favius, then I'll have to, and then where will we be? hmmm?
Well, I'd say that since Planny knows all about the champagne bottle now, anyway, ya might as well marry her already!

:D

:sorry: sorry -- I couldn't' resist!

Yes I agree

Now if we could just find a preacher

Where oh where could we get a preacher on such short notice to do the wedding?

Oh WAIT

Just let me know the day and send me a plane ticket
you two can iron out the details via e-mail

Yes Flavius Lying is ALWAYS wrong!
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS.

And you stay away from that married lady
You hear me?

Anyone showed up at my house with a bottle of dusty old wine to
share it with Miss Bonnie.... Well lets say this if you dig up wine to drink with my wife I know where the old man is burried and I would dig him up! ;)

Blessings

Auld Lang Syne

(Traditional with verses added by Robert Burns)

Chorus.

And for auld lang syne, my jo,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days o' auld lang syne.

And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp!
And surely I'll be mine!
And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

We twa hae run about the braes
And pu'd the gowans fine;
But we've wander'd mony a weary foot
Sin auld lang syne.

We twa hae paidl'd i' the burn,
Frae mornin' sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin auld lang syne.

And there's a hand, my trusty fiere!
And gie's a hand o' thine!
And we'll tak a right guid willy waught,
For auld lang syne.

~Translation~

Old Long Past

Chorus.

And for old long past, my joy,
For old long past,
We will take a cup of kindness yet,
For old long past.

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
And days of old long past.

And surely you will pay for your pint-vessel!
And surely I will pay for mine!
And we will take a cup of kindness yet,
For old long past.

We two have run about the hillsides
And pulled the wild daisies fine;
But we have wandered many a weary foot
Since old long past.

We two have paddled in the stream,
From morning sun till noon;
But seas between us broad have roared
Since old long past.

And there is a hand, my trusty friend!
And give me a hand of yours!
And we will take a right good-will drink,
For old long past.

Flavius, please note that you can't dig up your bottle of Asti for this. The ex-lovers each pay for their own when toasting one another for old times' sake, and they're doing it in a public place, so that everyone can see that what they're doing is perfectly innocent. They are trusty friends now, whatever they once were to each other.
If Robbie Burns, a Scot, didn't know how this should be done, probably no one does.

Dig up your bottle of Asti for your true love. If she's your true love. It won't matter to her that it was originally meant for your first love; it's a very romantic gesture, after all. :)

I havn't seen that chick in 20 years but if I saw her in Wallmart I'de act just like always and avoid seeing anybody I knew in the past.I get embaraced when I see people from the past.I had to smile when I saw somebody the other day that I hadn't seen for 20 years. He asked me what happened to me cause I looked so different.Anyway don't worry I wouldn't dream of contacting her, that's my dilema, that's why I never dug that bottle up.

You were very incorrect when you said lying is always wrong.Of course it's not silly.

Well, to save a life (or a marriage or relationship) are the first that come to mind......

There are several instances in scripture where lying is actually rewarded.

The commandment is to "not bear false witness against a neighbor." There are many instances where an untruth would not fall in to that category.

i.e. - Do you hate Jews? "yes" - do you have Jews hiding on your home? "no"

That was one of the things I loved about Yeshua.....He knew how to answer, not lie, yet not get caught inthe trap that they had planted for him. If only I could be as wise as He is. He always said that He wished

Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

I think this needs to be taken to the halacha forum and chewed on till the cows come home!
