  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

From reading the scriptures it makes a lot of sense and gives me a lot of evidence about the validity of Trinity. I understand this is a concept that may be hard to grasp for people new to Christianity and that Modalism, Unitarian or other doctrines tend to appeal to seekers since its a simple model.

But from reading scripture problems tend to arise with those doctrines of Modalism, etc. I've seen some strange claims made by both Unitarians and modalist claiming that the Early Christian view matched theirs, and some blame the council of Nicea for coming up with this doctrine, many restorationists tend to blame the council. They claim that Trinity is pagan seems preposterous.

From a deep understanding and study of scripture would it be plausible to make such a claim that Trinity is invalid?

Should we use a word to describe God that is not in the Bible anywhere?
Sure, but which one? Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, Impassible, Immutable, Aseity, Immanent .. just to name a few ;)

Perhaps they would like to explain how Theophilus of Antioch was using the word “Trinity” around 170, when the Council of Nicea was in 325. Modalism was already being attacked as a heresy by Tertullian at the beginning of the third century.

Trinity means "three" (Latin: trinitas, Greek: trias).

G5140
t?e???, t??´a
treis tria
trice, tree'-ah
A primary (plural) number; “three”: - three.

The Father is God

2Pe_1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

The Son is God

Psa 78:35 And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.

1Co 10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
1Co 10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
1Co 10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

Jesus is God because the OT says Israel's Rock was God and Christ was that same Rock.

Holy Spirit is God

Act 5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
Act 5:2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
Act 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
Act 5:4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

Here lying to the Holy Spirit is called lying to God.

To believe in the Trinity is to believe these three points are true, that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are each God in their own right and work together as One.

No, it would not be plausible at all. God has revealed Himself to be one God, in three Divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
