The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Laurie I haven't replied because I don't know which ones I have all tried, I tried almost all of them, so most likely this one as well, unless it is an anti-depressant or something I've tried only a 1/2 dozen of them or so but they all drive me crazy.
What is it a mood stabiliser, anti-psychotic, anti-depressant, anti convulsant, what other names has it got?

I took it for a short time quite a while ago. I couldn't be of much help but if you don't get anyone else, PM me.

I've been taking it for several years now. I switched to this from Tegretol so I wouldn't have to worry about liver damage. It seems to be ok. Depending on the dose you may feel a bit funky until you reach your therapeutic level.

I'm on the generic Tripaltal (I don't know how to spell it) So far so good. I'm a new diagnoised bipolar gal. If I skip a day though, people gotta stay out of my way.

I have been taking it for years. I've done well with it. I've been off of it for a few months since I have no money to buy meds. My wife and I just
got a few extra bucks so I'm thrilled to go back on them. My depression
got real bad once I quit. I'm a Bipolar 2 so when depressions hits it won't leave for at least a year. I prefer to keep on them since it will stop my
depression at a certain level. Without them I get very suicidal which I am
now. They actually help me sleep too.
