Because after God called them, they choose of their own "free will" to believe what God or Jesus said.

Brother, I'm a little confused by your statement. It seems to suggest
that God is in the now but can see forward, thus being confined in time.

Since God is eternal. God is not confined to any part of the universe
but is present in all His power at every point in space and every moment
in time (Psalms 139: 7-12). Eternity refers to God's relationship to time.
Past, present, and future are known equally to Him (2 Pet 3:8; Rev.1:8).
Time is like a parade that man sees only a segment at a time. But God
sees time in its entirety.

BrotherBob,That was a tongue in cheek statement.I thought the 'wink' would make that clear.I was in part having a dig at "foreknowledge" meaning that God knows in time past the 'choosing Him' action of persons in the future.(I rarely use smileys in my posts)Have a good day.
