Where can a person obtain such a pet frog? AND are they tame right from the start? AND, what do they eat, where do you get the food? J
Some pet stores have frogs. Usually green tree frogs sometimes whites,
occasionally pac man.
They eat live crickets, they have to see them moving to eat. Meal worms are for smaller frogs. Pet stores have them. Lizards eat them too.
Some are more outgoing and use to being handled. While others will do anything to get away from you. Frogs drink by absorbtion through their skin.
So you must wash your hands before holding them(prevent giving them germs or irritants to thier skin.) Then when done holding you must wash your hands to prevent them from giving you germs.
We have 4 frogs in a high top 30 gallon aquarium. We have had a firebelly in with 3 others. Fire belly toads are suppose to secrete a toxin when scared, but our frogs have never had a problem. (natures warning: bright colors mean poison)
Frogs are great pets but read up on them and ecspecially the type you want. You can look on line for sellers too. Don't just take what the pet store offers. Each frog has special needs, certain humidity and temps.
Don't let my warnings stop you from looking at frogs. My daughter brought
a toad she found in and that was it. It's still alive after 2 yrs.
Please buy only captive Bred(CB) frogs. Wild capture(wc) take frogs from nature and there is some that believe frogs populations are declining.
(I am not a tree hugger, but there are plenty of captive bred frogs around, and wild should remain wild)
I know, my daughter brought one home, it might have become dog food if she hadn't. My concern are the more exotic ones anyway.
My link to frog pic isn't working anymore. It did work the day after I posted it.
