  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is a question directed particularly toward those who prefer to uphold traditional gender roles: is transvestitism wrong? (I'm talking about people who prefer to wear clothes that are traditionally worn by the other gender. This is not a question about sexual gender preference, but about clothing preference.)

I'm not the kind of person you're looking for input from, but transvestites are fine. I'd think few people would have real issues with it, as a transvestite isn't questioning biological gender, just prefers the clothes of the opposite sex.

It's us gender-questioning folks that make people uncomfortable. ;)

This is a double standard issue. Because when I ask "well women wear jeans and those are traditionally men" and get "well no! Society changed to let women wear pants". Really, it's just another thing for conservatives to complain about.

This subject is often taken to extremes.

Clothing is clothing.
What is not appropriare is to dress in such a way as to appear as a gener you are not.

Why is it inappropriate to dress in such a way as to appear to be the opposite gender? Some people are most comfortable like that.

Not to completely derail the thread, but "gender" is such a nebulous term when dealing with culture. "Sex" (as in, biological/physical attributes) is more descriptive of what you're meaning, I think.

I, for instance, dress in clothes of the opposite gender, but "appropriate" for my sex most days.

But it's completely abstract. Let's look at the skirt as an example. Or as some men call it, a kilt. Or how about a couple of thousands of years ago in the Middle East when men wore robes, you know, a loose, flowing garment. Sounds like a dress to me.

How about the people who are born with both male and female genitalia (it does happen!). Normally they have an operation to correct this a few months after birth, but what if they are brought up as a man, then decide they are a woman? Can they wear female clothes in this instance?

Wearing a skirt does not make one appear to be of a particular gender.

Different topic.
Such would not be transvestitism

The word you're looking for is "sex" "gender" refers to how an individual views his/herself.

And how do we know that your god is the true god? Or even that there is a god? Without these questions answered I may as well quote The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as the word of god.

I wasn't looking for a word, but thank you.

Whether YHWH is God is another topic.

God says this is an "Abomination" unto Him!!!

Transvestism is evil and wicked. Period. End of remark.
