  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just wanted to say that I believe in transubstantiation 100% in case anybody was questioning it. Absolutely! I would die for this belief.

I just wanted to give you this essay, it might help you understand our understanding of the priesthood.

Yet Joe, Jesus said that where two or more are gathered together in His Name, there He would be.  Do you see Him present?  Do you always feel Him present?  I would venture a guess that you do not.

So, was Jesus lying?  No, He wasn't.  It comes down to a single principle Joe...

Faith.

I don't understand. Are you saying that Jesus is somehow physically present whenever I meet with two or more of my Christian friends?

I think you missed my point. My point was...

Just because you cannot sense any change in the situation (be it transubstantiation or Jesus Christ being amongst people who gather in His name) doesn't mean that a change hasn't taken place.

To Joe:

Jesus couldn't change the Bread and Wine into ACTUAL flesh and blood, because He would have violated the Law in the Old Testament. Remember, He had to abide by the Law, too.

The dietary Laws of the Old Testament were more than just strange practices that made the Jews "different" from their neighbors. Looking at them through modern eyes, knowing what we do about bacteria and disease, it's very easy to see that the cleanliness and the banning of certain meats went a long way to insure that the Jews SURVIVED. Those were not the days of internal meat thermometers, modern refrigeration, or even pressure canning methods of keeping foods.

Bread is very stable. In a dry climate, it will keep for days. Wine is very stable, too. The fermentation process which creates wine is also a preservative. So Jesus is using common foods that are found in every household, foods that don't need extraordinary preservation methods, so we don't have to worry about poisoning the congregation with salmonella or worse.

Bread is basic, too. For most of the world, bread is literally the staff of life. Bread, or a bread-like substance, provides nearly all the nourishment of the population. Wine is a miracle drink of sorts....it can be kept, it makes you feel good, it purifies water, it can be an excellent medicine.

Bread and wine are in the Old Testament. We have continuity. What is the first miracle of Jesus? Multiplying wine. How did He feed the multitudes? Multiplying bread.

Actual flesh, and actual blood would soon spoil. Bread and wine will keep.

Peace be with you,

I think it's almost like how Jacob once said:

"Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it." (Gen 28:16) :)

One thing I never want to do is not meet God in a personal way when the opportunity arises :)
