Transformers live action movie

So are you ready for the 4th of July?

I am excited and nervous. Kind of like before the first Lord of the rings movie as I did not know how it was going to turn out. I am not totally pleased with some of the changes, but I have hope that the overall product is going to be decent and a fun popcorn flick.

Optimas has flames

I have been trying to download the new trailer for a couple of days. I have viewed it online, but I do not have internet access at home so I can't view it there. The library does not have quicktime installed, so I can it to play that way and then save it. But a guy on another board might be able to help me out.

What do you think of the trailer? It is hard to make judgements based on just 2 minutes, but I am hopefull about the movie.

A lot of hard core Trans fans are worried about the director, who himself is not a fan, but leans more towards action/racing films. In other words, people are worried this is going to come out being another fast and the furious with talking cars.

they have made quite a few changes in the characters forms, but hopefully not in their personalities.

I am looking forward to the movie, but am concerned they will not stay true to the origional G1 storyline or character bios.

again, I cannot see the origional optimas sporting flames, it does not sit with his personality, maby Sunstreker or Sideswipe, but not Optimas.

That and I'm ticked off that Bumblebee is not in his origional beetle form (he's a camiro)

Optimus I can live with, and the robot form of bumblebee is ok. I think they have a fairly good product placement contract with GM. I don't know if I buy that VW did not want to be in a "war" movie. But the camaro does give them a chance to make bumblebee bigger. I don't know if the size ratios from the cartoon would work in the live action movie or not. Because the animated stuff can play with size a bit more than live action.

I would prefer Optimus to be the same old red cab over semi we know and love, but I can accept the change. The flames are a bit showy for the Optimus I know and love, but I can live with it if the character is not changed much.

I am torn between trying to find a copy of the leaked script or just waiting and seeing what I see on screen.

It seems we are unanimous in protesting the transformers new vehicle modes. I really wanted Bumblebee to be a bug, its just him. And I don't see the point of putting flames on Optimus. I just hope the director doesn't make to much other changes.

The only vehicle issue I have is of Megatron being an alien jet and not a gun. Other than that, I don't really care.

It is not quite certain yet if megatron will have an earth form or not. I lean towards there being some earth form, but only very slightly.

well, to be honest, i'm not sure how a giant robot like megatron transforming into a gun of a much smaller size and volume would translate in live action. you could get away with it in a cartoon, but in a "real life" setting... well, it's a big ask.

I thinks its been confirmed that Megatron will be some sort of 'Alien Jet'.

On a side note, I really won't mind if they change Starscream's paint job. He's one of my favorite characters but jets are rarely white and red (and I hope he blows his foot off again). Does anybody know if he'll be in the movie?

I was thinking the same thing. I was a huge fan of the Transformers cartoons when I was a kid, butt I'm not so sure how it will translate to live action.

I think it is great that they got the real Optimus Prime voice
