Hello,

I've only been a Christian for a year, been with the Salvos for less than that. My pastor is a senior soldier who didn't go through the training with the Salvos so I'm guessing he's just been employed by the army.

Interestingly I'm becoming a soldier soon, and I would like to
become an officer within the next few years after I graduate from university. The transfers model intrigues me. Exactly how does the army decided how the officers are moved?

To the best of my knowledge they put a map on the wall and attach names of officers to darts and throw the darts. They go where they land! My wife reckons they pray before throwing the darts!:D
That is to say I really have no idea. The minister at my corps is employed by the army (which is cheaper for them anyway) and once said he didn't like the system in use and would need to be comfortable with it before he became an officer.

For the transfer of my officers I know they took into account how long they had been in their position and their near future needs. They have a teenager son, so they took into consideration how the move would effect him too.
