1. There isn't any 'trail.' There are significant gaps in time between the groups claimed to have been Baptistic.
2. The groups weren't Baptists, anyway, when it came to their views on, and practice of, Baptism.

I know that use to always amaze me when I first heard these claims. Go and read what they people they claim an unbroken "chain" actually believed and taught. I don't recall any of them sounding anything like a Baptist. If I were Baptist, I would not want to be associated with those groups.
