The police can kick down your door, shoot your family, confiscate everything you own, throw you in jail and not even charge you with a crime.

Oops, they got the wrong house, they intended to get the house next door and got yours by mistake. But you can't take legal action against them because badges give police extra rights. So pretty much you're out of luck.

It's good that you're so comfortable with that though.
That's in correct. You can sue the officers and the city. Hopefully you get compensated for it.

Apparently you didn't understand my post or I misunderstand yours. What freedom was lost? Was there not a warrant obtained? That's what the Constitution requires. If so then no freedom was lost.

There is a bit of anarchist in all of us. And though legal and reasonable finding out that one can be tracked by one's activities can be a bit irritating.

Of course and that's why many of us didn't like the Patriot act. It sounded good at first until we discovered the government was collecting data from us without a warrant.
