• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Its been a very tough week to get through. :sigh:

My husband no longer has an income.  The company he was an independent contractor for has let him go.  Now he thinks he'll be able to make a lot of money sitting at home and stuffing envelopes.  Even though the Better Business Bureau has warned that these work at home offers are scams.  I even looked one up on the BBB website to show him and now he says that the BBB is lying about these companies.  I've about reached the end of my rope with him. :(

Anybody have any words of wisdom that might help?  Of course prayer is always welcome.

There is no other guy to talk to him.  He has no friends because of his deceitful ways.  Even his whole family will have nothing to do with him.  They got tired of being robbed blind and lied to.

As far as being a big boy...yes he is, he's 51 years old and set in his ways.

do you have kids ? he dosen t even have a buddy from work ?

Yes we have a 10 year old daughter.  And no he doesn't have a buddy from work.

Right at the moment our daughter is in tears because he is drunk and yelling and screaming irrationally because she said the cat was in her room.

I'm ready to leave and never look back but don't have the money to right now or I would.

Please do contact a Women's shelter. If you are in Riverside County (CA) there is a Calvary Chapel sponsored shelter called Sheepfold (Christian run). They can give you help. support and if needed a place to live if he gets violent.

Thanks for all the prayers and for listening.

I don't live in California, I live in Ohio and there are shelters here but you have to have actually been assaulted before they will help you.

I am feeling much better right now.  All the prayers from all of you and church service last night have really helped.

      Thank you all, you are a blessing.

Invite your husband to church, and pray that God touches him, and changes him. Remember to let the holy spirit do his job, and you do yours.

I have invited him to church and he has gone quite a few times.  As a matter of fact, he went for four years during which time he did not drink and was a totally different person.  It seems as if the more time that goes by the worse he gets.  And oh how I have prayed...that's the only thing that gets me through.
