• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A post in the "What is gender" thread lead me to make this one...

One of the equal rights movements going on in the United States, and Canada (I'm fairly sure it's not much of an issue in Europe, or Africa...) is the topfreedom movement.

It's about women's equality to go "topfree" (because apparently "topless" suggests erotica) in public, as men do. Just for mowing their lawns, and at the beach, and the like (as men can)--not for walking around in schools or offices.

If you want to learn more, you can google the words "topfree" or "topfreedom" or anything of the sort... and guys, don't expect an apology if it doesn't turn you on.

Some US states (and Canada as a whole, I believe) have legalized it so long as there is nothing sexual about the act they're doing...

What are your opinions on this? I have a sneaky suspicion on what the Christian perspective will be...

I never forbade them from doing such--but that is not the intention of topfreedom. Why shouldn't men have erotic thoughts looking at ears, noses, or shoulders? Nobody's going to stop them...

Also, an aside to the guys who are for topfreedom: Would you still be for the equality of shirt-removing rights even if it meant that you had to wear a shirt in every public place?

I have no problem with it. I mean, I have seen 300+ pound, hairy men walk around mowing their lawn with no shirts on. If we allow them to, we should allow women to.

I know that's a poor arguement, because most men might want to see the women topless and not the fat men, but for some reason, I just wanted to write about the fat hairy men. And with that, I have decided that this is my worst day of posting ever.

Eh, I can guarantee that most men would not want to see me topless. On the other hand, I think we're all to hung up on bodies anyway. I support the notion but I doubt I'd practice it. I don't show a lot of skin outdoors as I sunburn to easily.

If you look at the topfreedom sites... even where there are pictures, you'll note they don't have the bodies (or breasts) of strippers.

Oh, I didn't figure they did. I just didn't want to make any comments about that and have women beat me up. :)

I think it's gross. Guys don't have anything up there, girls do.....so, there's a reason to have a cover. Both modesy and decency.

Well, it still isn't right. One, guys are visually stimulated way easier than women. Now a girl can see some topless guy and be like, whatever. A guy sees a topless girl and more often than not may even end up lusting. Two, it's inappropriate. Some guys do have some stuff up there (lol), but they are guys and more often it's due to weight. A girl is way more suscepible to who knows what happening, plus, it's gross. How is doing that living in propriety and modesty (which the Bible tells to do)? It isn't.

how often is it warm enough in canada to actually do this?

i've spent some time in france, and have been to the topless beaches. back then i was a christian. in fact, on one occasion, i was hanging out with a topless girl on a beach on a sunday morning. after this, we got dressed and went to church. this sort of behaviour really doesn't conflict with christianity.

for those of you that follow the bible literally: you were never kicked out of the garden of eden; you kicked yourselves out.

Many women are visually stimulated. If I see Antonio Banderas topless, I'm stimulated...believe me.

I'm not going to be top free... I could care less if someone wants to.. but my top is rather in need of support or I feel rather uncomfortable.... all that skin against skin when you leave your perky teen years long behind causes too much sweat.. rashes irritation.. UGH! I'm not quite sure how some of the more fleshy men are comfortable with all that extra upper body flesh flopping about without containment.. but hey to each their own...

LOL.... very true (well not Antonio Banderas.. but geesh the guy who played Keith on Six Feet Under.. talk about visual stimulation.. take his shirt off and I might completely fall apart....) The idea that women aren't visually stimulated is very strange to me..... and just what are those women watching male strippers doing making all that noise if they aren't stimulated by what they see?

Do you have any evidence for the above?

A girl is way more suscepible to who knows what happening
If you are talking about rape or sexual harrassment, there is no reason to suppose that a topless woman is in any more danger from any other woman.

it's gross.
What's so gross about breasts? And since when was something being "gross" a good reason to outlaw it? Would you ban men from scratching themselves (you know what I mean) in public?

How is doing that living in propriety and modesty (which the Bible tells to do)? It isn't.
The Bible says a lot of things, personally, I'd rather not be compelled to adhere to much of it and I don't see why anybody should be forced to comply with your religious beliefs.

Wow. I've never met a women who thought breasts were gross.

There's no real reason why women shouldn't be allowed to go topless. Just because their breasts are more developed? Or because it might make some guys horny?
