I watched this weeks episode last night (TIVO'd it). I really liked the elimination challenge - I thought it was very creative! I was sorry to see Valerie go because I liked her but I thought it was a good decision on the part of the judges.

Yes, that was a tough decision to make I think because the mushroom issue was pretty bad, IMO.

I LOVE Amazing Race and Project Runway also. They are some of my favorite TV!
Yep - those mushrooms looked awful! And I was surprised that no one on that team tasted them after they added the cheese

Yeah! Another Amazing Race and Project Runway fan!!! I really like the reality shows that are based on the individual or team performance rather than on popularity...:)

Me too! And I really enjoyed this season's PR bc there really wasn't gossip and sniping. Chris March was just the nicest man and SweetP loved everybody, and they were there until the end! And the other 3 were nice, too!

The thing with the mushrooms also is....didn't they decided NOT to serve them, and then she went ahead and did it anyway? Saying all the while (and the judges commented on it) that they weren't happy with them?? And NONE of them tasted the final product first?? Holy cow!

I think that bc the crab salad seemed to be enjoyable other than the watery consistency, they were right to let that one go.

Goodness, now I'm getting hungry!

I totally agree! I thought it was on of the more pleasant and fun seasons! I liked a lot of the challenges this year too! I especially liked the one where they went to the museum to get inspiration...

Exactly! Why she served them to the judges I'll never understand!

LOL! ^_^ Me too!

I watched part of the episode tonight and saw Spike (?- not Dale or the woman) say the mushrooms weren't hot enough and so they all decided they weren't going to serve them. I also realized Valerie was one of the top three for the quick challenge in the beginning. Did she do well last week?

Just irritates me that Dale added the cheese, they all agreed not to serve it and then she goes ahead and does it anyway!

I Love Top Chef. PR is an all time favorite along side The Amazing Race.

I have not made up my mind about TC contestants this season. Last season they made a point of being sure to have experienced chefs but it seems this year they have returned to their previous formula.

But no matter--I will not miss a minute :)

Yay! Another woman with excellent taste in reality t.v.! :D

I agree...they have a variety of experience on this show. Do any of you think that the couple (the two women) have an unfair advantage over the other contestants? Or do you think it is a negative for them?

I don't get why they choose to prepare things that aren't going to be good after sitting for a while. It's almost like, 'gee, let me cook this amazing dish and then step on it before I serve it!' If you KNOW it won't be as good, why do it??

I really felt conflicted about the pasta dish. She clearly didn't want to do it. But seriously, how hard can it be? I think they had mercy on her getting stuck with something she didn't want and chose the person who got what they wanted having made a bad choice! A number of Erik's dishes were panned for their grouping/presentation already anyway.

Yeah - I think you're right...and I was thinking about it some more...he said that he prepared those all the time in his restaurant so he really should've known that they wouldn't transport/sit well and that they would come out soggy...so I guess in that sense he sort of dug his own grave so to speak...

If you're going to say that something is your specialty - then you better be able to deliver - and if you know the circumstances won't be the best for that dish then prepare something else...

No I don't think they have and advantage. I think they are being very considerate about not being all touchy feely for the comfort of everyone else. That's nice of them. I don't think it'll be a hindrance or helpful to them. I think the judges are pretty good at diciphering through all the crud.

Anybody watch this weeks episode? What did you think?
yeah I did. The elimination challenge was cool :) Pick a food inspired by a movie. I wanted someone to do Chocolat. Some of them were very uninspiring.

I read Padma's blog and she said they chose to send Manuel home because he took a back seat and they want a Top Chef to be a leader. Good reason I think.

Anyone see last week?

I love this show, but almost feel like skipping these first few weeks while they weed through the first few contestants before I watch it.

I know how you feel, it's frustrating only getting to see 1/2 of the dishes that are prepared.

I can't believe Antionia went home and Lisa is still there
