  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

looks like you like mysterious animes, Phoenix. Me and bro can't really understand Rahxephon but we've got a friend who likes it very much. He also likes evangelion and is interested in Noir.

top 3...

Naruto: good fight scenes, extraordinary character development and nice plot.

Kenshin: great theme, humorous

Last Exile: excellent animation and intriguing plot. Plus i like the setting.

Fruits Basket - Really funny and sad at times. Aside from Shigure and Ayame it's safe for everybody. Ayame is my hero.
Evangelion - Of course, just pwns.
Fushigi Yuugi - Pretty good, funny with some action. It gets a little weird towards the end but still a solid series. Nuriko is my other hero.

Actually I like anime with style, in that it has a particular look and feel that is intreguing. Hellsing, for instance, is not particularly mysterious, but it creates an atmosphere like none other. RahXephon is also a very loaded in atmosphere. Eva, on the other hand, repeatedly destroys its own atmosphere in the later episodes. The early ones were great (especially the fight against the angel done entirely to a musical piece) but the later ones were scatterbrained. Noir I've heard is good, but I haven't had a chance to watch it.

Lets see,

Ranma 1/2
Kare Kano
Marmalade Boy

Those are my top 3 anime. However they arn't shown on TV where I am. Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon are, and I watch them, but that's about all the anime that is shown at my house.

Oh well, fine with me. :)

Trigun is one of my favorite animes. Although it was IMHO too short and the characterization on Meryl, Milly, and Knives could have been better (more rabbit trails and sideplots please) it was all around one of the best animes I've seen. :) Milly and Wolfwood are still some of my favorite anime characters. . .^^

Cowboy Bebop is also in the top list, simply for the artwork, the great music, and the whole theme of the plot. It's depressing, yeah, and could do without some of the Fayeservice, and it is an overly hyped anime. . .but the hype is definitely well-deserved. :)

.hack//sign is a favorite, too, for the same reasons I like Cowboy Bebop. Great art, great music, and a plotline with some mysteries at this point (I've only seen DVD 1, "Login") :)

1.Azumanga Daioh. Its extremely cute at many points, and very funny at others times. The entire series is just so well done and has prettymuch gained a permanent spot as my #1 favorite anime. The social interaction is very good and each character is very well developed. Chiyo-Chan forever!!!

2. Chobits. Very very funny, and Sumomo is hilarious :D I am now dedicated to someday purchasing an exact replica of Sumomo when the technology exists. This was a very good anime.

3. Love Hina. Very funny, and it honestly has become a fantasy of mine :p Liked all the characters and it had many hilarious jaw dropping moments.

Hellsing is all about atmosphere. Perhaps style isn't the right word, it's a sense of immersion, a gestalt that the anime achieves. Hellsing is dark, yes, and the plot is certainly weak in points, but the dialogue, soundtrack, and animation combine to create a mood like none other. It also helps that the villains don't stop for long pointless chats or leave gaping holes in their plans. The entire thing creates an effect that's really unique.
Naruto has a bit of the atmosphere, but it just stretches it out too long. Hellsing's fights were quick, even the ones they were building up to (Incognito was taken out in less then an episode, and the Valentine brothers went down pretty quickly too).

Bebop is another show I should have mentioned. It takes the biggest cliches imaginable - a former policeman/military dude with a mysterious past, a crooked gambler with a mysterious past, and a former ganster with a *drumroll* mysterious past, and - oh yeah, a computer hacker with a (you guessed it) mysterious past. And they're bounty hunters. Normally the combinations of cliches should have killed it deader then Waterworld, but it survived through sheer atmosphere. It's not the plot that makes Bebop unique, its the atmosphere it creates.

Thank you all for your input. It appears that R.K. and Trigun are some favorites (I like them too). Naruto has been mentioned a couple times....I think I will check it out.

(Just so you know)
1. Trigun
2. Bebop
3. Inuyasha
(there are the best on Adult Swim)

It's certanly worth your time! Some of the fights do drag out a bit but it is without a doubt the best thing being subbed right now.
