Only one I've read is Catch-22 and I read it every few years due to its absurdity.

I remembered being required to read "To Whom the Bell Tolls" by Ernest Hemingway. I got to the sex seen and complain to my teacher about it reading it over to him. He agreed and told me I did not have to finish that book.
