Yes. They're a pretty decent band. I favor them quite a bit in my daily mix. One could --quite literally-- take all of their songs and layer them on top of each other to create the longest song ever. Many of their songs sound like twin sisters to each other. There are no surprises with this band, which makes them simulatenously very consistant/very boring to listen to.

no suprises? you must be one of those people who hadnt heard of Tool before they released lateralus.

listen to their earlier albums and you can see gradual progression. every new album changes them in some way shape or form.

I love Tool, I'm not sure if they are my favorite band although I love every aspect of their music even though it becomes rather dull listening to for a long period of time. Maynard James Keenan as the most amazing vocal skill, especially love how he can scream for 23 seconds and then continue with the song even without stopping for air and his lyrics are amazing aswell. They have amazing musicians aswell, Maynard said himself if it wasn't for them he wouldn't be able to get started on the vocals or the lyrics - He's an apparent retroactive musician and has a hard time starting on the songs if there isn't a instrumental groundwork.

Though they're a little overrated, but that doesn't change the fact that their music is awesome and I love singing along to their songs. <3 Tool.

I agree they are good but they are very boring to listen to. 10,000 days was a unimpressive album IMO, while undertow and lateralus were better but still boring.

They got so popular for a reason you know? They didn't get where they are from doing thousands of interviews with dodgy magazines, they didn't get where they are from writing stupid songs about women, sex etc, they didn't get where they are from having their melodies repeated over and over again with little to no variation, they didn't get so popular because they're easy-listening. They got so popular because they create meaningful songs, meaningful melodies and meaningful lyrics and vocals - They got so popular because nobody actually knows very much about them or the process of which they make music, Maynard has been in a couple of interviews and haven't actually revealed much about it - They're mysterious, they got so popular because they create good music that makes people think and not stupid trance songs that people jump around to brainlessly and think LOEL THIS IS GOOD MUSIC, they got to where they are because they take their time to polish and make sure all their songs are good.

They got to where they are for a reason.

I don't know, but why in the world does it take 5 years to write an album? Lateralus and Aenima I could understand, but 5 years for 10,000 Days???

I'm not exactly a big Tool fan, but this is a pretty ignorant comment. Anyone with a little musical knowledge can see that Danny Carrey is an incredibly talented and creative drummer.
