  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

too sad!!!!!!!!!

A journalist assigned to the Jerusalem bureau takes an apartment overlooking the Wailing Wall. Every day when she looks out, she sees an old Jewish man praying vigorously. So, the journalist goes down and introduces herself to the old man.

She asks, "You come every day to the wall. How long have you done that, and what are you praying for?"The old man replies, "I have come here to pray every day for 25 years. In the morning I pray for world peace and then for the brotherhood of man. I go home, have a cup of tea, and I come back and pray for the eradication of illness and disease from the earth."

The journalist is amazed. "How does it make you feel to come here every day for 25 years and pray for these things?" she asks.

The old man looks at her sadly. "Like I'm talking to a wall."
:sigh:

I kind of look at his persistence differently, I find it uplifting. But then I've been praying for world peace for 40+ years, and I never cease to be lifted by God when I pray that. I guess I see the wall as the world, and God made the world, and gave me the faith to believe that He has overcome the world (I must be patient for the manifestion). Just a thought from one crazy old broad.

Dear Lonnienord and Matthew,
May your memories soothe your longings by giving you the oil of joy and the garmet of praise today. You two are in my prayers this morning!

I agree. I pray also for he man, coming to the wall so diligently, that He Finds comfort for his soul and that hE finds peace in the Source of peace. My heart goes out to him. Yes, he is discouraged, as we all experience because we are but dust, but he is seeking....God hears his heart....I pray he finds solace in his messiah.

I understand why you you would want to please your son (how old is he?) but I'm sure you want to please God even more. Maybe your son had a prophetic word for you, but maybe not. You must now approach God for yourself, and find out what HE would have you do. If this is what God wants for you, it will not be something you have to strive at. On the other hand, how disastrous would a marriage be that was not a part of God's perfect will for your life!

How can we have 'world-peace' without the Prince of Peace?

Thats the sad fact of the matter :( At least we can admire the man's persistence and compassion.

God Bless, metal.

Thats very true! The Prince of Peace is everywhere, you just have to have the faith.

Am I the only one who finds that funny? But then again, I understand the underlying humou in that sharing. There are other reasons that don't bearsharing right now. :)

No, you're not the only one. Right now I'm speaking to a mountain, which I'm sure an observer would find real wierd, but there's no saddness to it (even if might look humorous to an observer). After all, we are a peculiar people.

Thanks brinny!
giggling afresh this morning!

And by the way, that damned mountain moved! (I knew it would, or else I'd be moved right up over it in some unexpected but glorious fashion - I've learned to put on my shoes of peace before I start in with the "MOVE IT, NOW!" stuff, because I never can anticipate how the Lord's going to act: in fact, I just love that about Him!

As for the peculiar, it's His word, not mine, but it sure does fit sometimes!
:D

Have a wonderful day!
