Too protective as a parent?

I believe that it is important to filter what your children watch. Every child is different so I do not believe that it should be a cookie cutter approach to how you determine what movies you child can or cannot watch. I do not believe that children should be able to watch movies that are Rated R or MA. I have a 12 year old and sometimes I believe that PG-13 movies are a little too much for her. I would like my daughter to live a somewhat sheltered life but still be able to cope with outside society once she leaves the nest. I allow her to watch movies that are not sexually entertaining or too violent.

we haven't been to the movie theatre in a while as a family, at least not since school started this yr

Mary Poppins Returns looks like it might be a fun movie to see over Christmas break at theatre
