  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well,I grew up in San Francisco,Ca. In the Fillmore District, one can see women standing on street corners, while men would drive up and pick up these "Ladies of the Evening." I have never, never, never,in any big City that I have lived in,seen men standing on a street corner being picked up by women.
Testosterone is the hormone that is responsible for our sex drives.Different people have different levels. Now, generally, the average male has about ten times more testosterone that the average female has.
So women, yes you do have your lusts and your desires. So just imagine those desires being ten times stronger than the desires that you have now. Then, and only then, would you have any idea what we men have to go through.
Yes,I am a Biology Major with a B.S. degree in Clinical (Medical) Science from San Francisco State University.

Why did God gave us men too much testosterone? And at the same time, HE did not give us the ability to lower our levels, such as we can exercise to get rid of unwanted fat.

There are drugs, on the market, that promises to raise a man's testosterone level. When I was between 19 an 21years old,my testosterone level was very high, which caused me to make some dumb decisions. Just like alcohol, testosterone is a chemical compound that can and will affect one's behavior.
What some men, like myself need,is a drug that will lower our levels,in order to keep us out of trouble. For example, I,if I have a fever,I could pray that the fever will go away. But,if I take ASA,or Tylenol,or Ibuprofen,I know that my fever will go away. So,maybe ,we men need to take a pill for lust. A pill that would cause ED would certainly do the trick.

I once read a story of a woman who was given testosterone to help her with some condition. She commented about her sexual desire really cranked up. It was there with her all the time no mater what she was doing. At times she thought it was really neat to have that much feeling at others she was very frustrated by it.

The early church had a way of dealing with that sinful sexual desire. It was eating 700 calories a day of food. That is right at the edge of starvation.

Well, I sympathize with anyone frustrated, complaining, etc about their hormonal make up :)...I am almost sure I would prefer to deal with high testosterone effects if I was a male, then to deal with female hormonal ups and downs, changes, side effects I am going through as a female. I used to have great hormonal balance, wonderful balance..for the last 10 years they are just messy..becomes necessary to make change lifestyle and other things. To trust in God at each new morning, new mercies and nurture the fruit of the Spirit inside. What a journey life is!

God bless you and hope you find your balance and contentment.

I've battled this notion that men have higher testosterone and believe it is true. I have only two comments:

1 It takes less testosterone in a woman's body to produce a lusty effect.

2 It seems God has left sexual need with the male that he initiates a sexual relationship with a woman that ultimately leads to offspring, "Be fruitful and multiply".

Additional: If mating were left to the woman I believe we would be extinct.

The man's needs are greater thus giving a power edge to the woman.

:amen: If Eve had treated Adam, the way most women have treated me,Homo sapiens would be extinct. In other words, what if Eve had Friend-Zoned Adam?

Yes, I'm well aware of what your saying. When a woman's hormones go wrong its not fun. I completely agree with you, KnowHisJoy.

I was talking with my father a while back and he commended on how many woman years ago who went crazy when menopause hit. Back then they had no understanding of hormones. It seems clear we still don't understand all that hormones are doing to us both good and bad. But we now know enough that there is some help.

The help for most guys is just to put a few years under our belt. Women have much more going on with child birth and then menopause.

Exit...as a scientist, I expect you wouldn't make this claim without actually having your testerone level tested...did you? Most men's actual testerone levels peak around age 20 and decrease over time. I suspect that you are actually talking about sexual urges and not testerone levels...and there are drugs that do decrease these...most antidepressants do just that. Maybe a low dose one would both solve your "urges" problem and give you the energy to actually exercise and lose the extra weight. Talk to your doctor.

Men who have slighty higher testesterone levels naturally are 45% less likely to have high blood pressure, 75% less likely to be obese, 151% more likely to smoke, and 27% more likely to be injured (related to risk taking activities). Men who have high testosterone from taking supplements like steriods often have anger control issues, large bodies w/ small testicles, and high blood pressure.

I had PMS, after and during the third pregnancy I got totally nuts, but now I'm healed and set free, so why wouldn't that work with male hormones?

Healed of what? cyclical hormonal surges? that is called menopause .. men don't have cyclical hormone phases normally...

My New Years resolution in December of 2012 was to stop eating at McDonald's.I then weighed 260 pounds.I did not eat at McDonald's in 2013,and in 2014.I stepped up my exercises. Now,in February of 2015,I weigh 230 pounds! :) Yesterday,my fasting blood sugar was 118 mg/dl.,after I worked out at the gym. This morning,2/17/15,my fasting blood sugar was 68 mg/dl.Today,2/17/15,after work,my randon, before dinner, blood sugar was 85mg/dl. I am hoping, that,if this trend continues, that I can start to cut down, little by little on my insulin, that I may one day, with just diet and exercise, will no longer need to shoot myself up with insulin anymore.

So you, see? I have been taking very good care of myself. Now,that I have a better looking physique,I notice that more women are smiling at me .:)

Which means that there must be a natural reason why men's testosterone levels fall as men age.

yes...it is called the aging process...everything starts to slow down...which is why i doubt you suffer from "too much testosterone"...it is either the expected amount or low..

good for you on the weight loss...the real winner is you even if you don't "get a girl"...however, the weight loss most likely has nothing to do with testosterone levels either way....the lower weight and healthier eating will help your body manufacture and utilize the hormone INSULIN...

Well, I must say with lower testosterone and learning to slow down and enjoy its much better than when I was young. Tho the urgency isn't the same as when I was younger. Its usually not even a big deal if I get to the end which some like a whole lot.

Cryptic on purpose. ....

No the abnormalities I mean. I don't flip out every month anymore or get depressed or like a man feels in his twenties when you're around 40, lol.
