I think some books can be really helpful, others are just filler...just like anything else. About the Prayer of Jabez...I don't really think very highly of it. I mean...it's pretty much telling peple that saying a generic prayer everyday will make their lives amazing. I always thought of prayer as something much more than that - it's a connection with God. It's not a good luck charm, it's conversation with God. It's not some memorized sentences that you say everyday without thinking, hoping that it will improve your life.

I've never seen the Prayer of Jabez as a good luck Charm. This isnt about possesions. Not if you are praying properly. This is about God blessing you so that He will be able to use you to expand his territory. When i say his territory, i mean God helping you to be able to share Christ to more people.

I think people miss the will of God all the time. I miss it. I know it. Those times i miss it is because God isnt my focus. The Lords Prayer, The prayer of Jabez are both prayers that have great value. And i have learned that more than anything else.

I've learned that if you are not praying for people, you dont care. The prayer of Jabez is just as much about reaching out to people as it is to anything else. So is the Lords Prayer.

That's a very good point quizzler, and I'm glad that you brought it up.

The Prayer of Jabez was never intended to become a name it claim it/health wealth book.  That is not what the author intended, it's just that some people take it that way, to fit their wants and needs.

A friend of mine read it, sincerely prayed from her heart, and so many opportunities came to reach others it astounds me.  I cannot believe her growth.

Let me qualify, that she did not read this book as a substitute for the Bible.  She reads, she study's, she's involved in helping/reaching others and she's one of the most incredible prayer warriors I've ever seen.  This woman is going to receive many crowns in heaven.

I'd rather see people read the Prayer of Jabez rather than a trashy novel :)

I have found some books useful but they are not easy to get hold of where i live. When im in my home town at holidays i have to travel an a bus or train to another town to get hold of christian things. I think they are ok as long as u arent totally relient on them and look to the Bible as well.
