  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Too caught up in electronics

Hello.

It seems in these days a lot of youths are consumed with many electronics, espcially computers.

I find this can be deadly. It can get your eyes taken of Jesus and the true gospel. Indirectly in relation to doing good, you become distracted by the glamour and cares of these products.

Personally, I struggle with addiction of computers and devices where you can find gratification to your worldly needs.

In greed I blindly take selfish advantage of such machines. Many people would be very grateful to have free use to a machine to find truth, find fellowship and hear the gospel.

I am indeed a fool.

What do you believe the scripture prescibes to this sin? Denying SELF?!

Sin? What?
Buddy, I don't know, I'm not sure that using a computer is considered a sin. I use my computer for school, music, connecting with friends and everything.

Besides, not once in YHWH's word has he ever said anything about computers being a sin.

I mean, of course, there is an extent of how much electronics can be used, and they can be used for bad things.
Such as:
Immoral music
Bad videos
Some disturbing games
etc...

But overall, I think the majority of people use electronics in a decent manner, and I don't think it should be immediately labeled a sin, electronics have benefited our world greatly.

And the electronics are not in fact our downfall... In stead it is the constant overpowering of Satan. I see, everyday, more and more people are falling prey to his deceit. I believe we are in the Last Days, coming upon the Tribulation. So, I think our last worry is being absorbed in electronics. Personally, I think we need to spend our time studying the Torah, growing deeper in our faith in Yeshua, and just learning not to fear whatever is to come.

And to answer your question, the Scriptures don't really prescribe anything to electronics, haha, ever. All I know, is we don't want to put electronics before YHWH, as long as we don't put electronics in place of our Father. So yeah.

Anything can be a sin if you put it before God. "Thou shall have no other gods before Me." Anything you put before God becomes a god in your life, be it money, friends, or, in this case, electronics.

Also, electronics can be a sin if we use them to sin. However, they are both good and bad. It just depends on what we use them for.

I have friends that think the same thing of TV and that TV has a big hand in the downfall of kids in America today. The TV and electronics are amoral though, it's just a device, it isn't able to be evil or good. The sin and the downfall comes from lack of time-management, self-control, and a misplaced drive to watch the bad shows. It's the same with computers and electronics. The sin isn't from the device, but the perversion of it.
