  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Listen, guys, I am a Jehovah's witness. I know that the Jehovah's witness have passed through difficult times and opposition. Some think we are the worshipers of the devil and that we are satan's children to overcome the true religion. That is not the case at all. Just like other religions, one should be able to open their eyes and see what good they do instead of what they do wrong. Some of you make a stereotype of all Jehovah's witness and just because one member is doing immoral things or doing something hypocritical, doesn't mean WE all do that.
The truth is, without a doubt that we are all imperfect, and you people criticizing us for what ever reason know that there are always people in every religion that will make you look bad. I am very happy with my religion. I am convinced that religion doesn't give salvation, but one's own actions.
The Jehovah's witness are the only set of people that I know who would do anything to defend the bible, and god. Take a look at the holocasast. Many Jehovah's eitness died and tortured becuse of their beliefs. They are also the one's who preach the most frequently door-to-door, a command set by Jesus.
And to all the aethist and opposers who despise us, then too bad, we have a way of using our life for a good and meaningfull purpose. There is nothing you people can do about it, unless you want to kill us all, then you will really get god mad!

Thanks again for reading the post, god bless.

I wouldn't exactly go so far as to say they are the only ones who would do anything to defend the bible and god. LOTS of religions, even non-bible-based ones, have followers who have withstood intense persecution for their beliefs.

I strongly suspect that those who despise you are not atheists, but non-JW theists.

That's right, I only despise people that feel compelled to share their religion with me and everyone else in the world.

i wouldnt say that i despise them wanting to share it. more like them wanting to enforce it. Thats another story.

The Watchtower Society has been proven time and again to be a pseudo-Christian cult. People such as Walter R. Martin and Leonard and Marjorie Chretien have exposed the Watchtower for what it is.

Any group that shuns members in order to enforce discipline is a cult. JWs are a cult.

Not to mention they can't be in contact with God as the word "Jehovah" is a typographic mistake. God's name is YHWH which was never to be pronounced. So the word adonai was used instead. Jehovah is a combination of YHWH and adonai. It's a mistake, not the name of a deity. You'd think a religion that actually had contact with a deity would realize what its name was.

I know little about the JW doctorines, I do know people who have became JWs, they changed a lot in some ways for the better and in some ways not. Then again this is true for many new christians. The one thing that I do not like about the JW is thier urge to come to my house and tell me thier beliefs. This is not limited to the JW I do not like it when anyone I do not know comes to my house to tell me what they believe, it's just that most of the time it is the JW that do it.

I know where you are coming around with this. YHWh is true, and I agreewith this. We just use this name becasue it has been used around centuries. Do not think we are the only ones who use Jehovash as a name. I know many religions who use Jehovah to REPRESENT gods name. There is an error in your reply. The only reason his name was not to be pronounced was becasue in the early centuries, the Jewish religions thought saying his name would be a superstition, not because we were not allowed to say it. Sooner or later, the writers of the bible believed in this superstion to not include the name of god at all.

You need to understand that the hebrew writing was very much different that of the english language. The hebrews rarely used vowels in their words. Some words meant many things and had several meanings that you had to look at the context clues to figure out what was being said. Take the example of Daniel's profecy when he read to the king the writings of the wall. Not just this example but others prove that some words were not supposed to be pronounced but were written that way. God Bless!
