First of all you will have to accept that speaking in tongues of any type means speaking words given by the Holy Spirit and is not a learned language.Symes said:

Yes, I have and it all says that everything must be done in order and without confusion. So far in every case that I know where there is babbling and noise involved in the speaking of tongues the person that spoke does not know what he says.
1 Corinthians 14:33,40
"33For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. 40But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way."
Babbling is not in order.

"18I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 19But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue."
Paul does not place very much importance on the gift.
He places much more emphasis on things being done in order.

I use tongues when I do not know what I should be praying for in any given situation. I anly pray in tongues when I am alone with the Lord,I ahve never used them in public except to pray silently about a situation.

I use tongues as you do. I have used them publicly, but then only by strong leading of the Holy Spirit, and even then only with much prayer first. Yes, there was an interpreter present on every occassion.
What's interesting is that when I gave a tongue publicly one time, I had the interpretation.
Much more normal for me is the use of tongues in my everyday life, especially when I need to hear the Holy Spirit. Praying in tongues is the fastest way I know to kill the flesh....

in all cases that people spoke in tongues but one can be said they spoke to people in their own language like the day of pentecost where it says all heard in their own language. the lone example is the story of cornelius, the main purpose of the event was to show peter and the jews that salvation had come to the gentiles. How did peter know salvation had come to the gentiles? by the speaking in tongues so the deciples did assoicate the speaking in tongues with recieving God's Holy Spirit into their hearts. but do not rely on it as proof that u have recieved God's Holy Spirit because if u do satan will decieve u with it. u should be interested in getting God or as Paul said one of the BETTER gifts such as healing so u can really help people. i suppose that why so many want tongues instead of healing is because if people asked for healing and did not get it that it would tell them where they really stand with God where as tongues is easy u can speak in tongues without God's help.
