In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey there!

No, disrespect intended, but here is my very personal view:

You know, I have always disliked "Everybody loves Raymond." It always seemed so un-christian to me...everyone always getting joy out of putting everyone else down.

See, I like Jerry Seinfeld's sarcasm, but "ELR"....just didn't seem right.

Am I wrong?
What are all your thoughts?

I think it works for sit-com. I think he's funny, and his family dynamic probably something that alot of people can relate to.

Now, the show Roseanne always turned me off because it seemed to me that it glorified disrespectful children, and disrespect in general. Perhaps an inconsistent observation, but one that I can live with. :)

I agree there. Her disrespect for children was always a bit shocking.

I do agree that Raymond is a funny guy though, I suppose the show is just not for me....also maybe cuz I cannot relate to that sort of home life...I have been very blessed in that regard my life, when I was growong up and now in my married life, respect is very important.
I have always reacted with shock to the comment being flung ;)
They should bring back a nice sitcom like Frasier or something.

Well I'm not sure if I'm giving up TV or not (I don't like to call it Satan's tool. I think idiot box is more appropriate but I won't get into why) but I usually get home in time when Oprah's on I think. I don't watch it but I'm pretty sure I know what time it is here.
