  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Tom Homan: Prepare for 'out-of-control border' if Dem wins in 2020: 'This will cause the country to collapse'
Informative video in that link.

Former acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE] Thomas Homan warned Democrats seeking the White House in 2020 against "enticing" illegal immigrants with lax immigration policies, in an interview that aired Sunday, saying America could face an "out-of-control border" if a Democrat unseats President Trump.

"They say they care about these people, they care about children dying and women being raped... they need to look in the mirror because if you keep offering enticements... 'sanctuary cities'... free health care... in-state tuition... people are going to put themselves in harm's way to come to this country," Homan told Steve Hilton on "The Next Revolution."

Considering the 12 million or more illegals in the U.S., it would seem that the border has already been out of control for many years and under both the Dems and the Repubs.

But that doesn't offer the "fear" that the GOP needs to win.

There's no reason to think that this is true. Particularly with Biden, who is most likely to continue traditional policies. Here's a summary of long-term trends: Obama deportations vs. Trump: Context is everything. - CNNPolitics. As you'll see, the trend has been down. Despite popular impression, Trump hasn't increased the rate of deportation. However Obama concentrated on criminals, while Trump has no consistent policy.

Some seem to constantly talk of fear.
I guess they may be scared?

Stop scaring the little children.

No fear if ones trust is in Christ.

The country will collapse if the Dems are elected? Well, as long as were not panicking...

The OP certainly seems to contain things intended to create fear: out of control, dying, being raped.

True, probably would not be the Country that it used to be.

Thinking not a change for the best?

They will be blinded and not see the light
just give their Country away

Sounds like you may endorse open borders?

It's been out of control at least 40 years I know about, so probably even longer then. I initially began learning a trade in 1980 in Houston. The illegals were already here in droves, already taking away jobs that should have been Americans first, 40 years ago. This wall Trump has been trying to build is some 40 years or so too late. Even if it manages to keep illegals out, it would also manage to keep the 12 million who already here, in. The only way this wall makes sense now, if you're going to build the wall so that illegals can't gain easy entry, deport all 12 million illegals already here as well. The chance of that happening though, even under Trump, is zero.

....and for 40 years, our country has collectively looked the other way while we exploited the illegal immigrant's strong worth ethic and cheap cost of labor. They came because we invited them with jobs and opportunities. President Trump employed illegal immigrants for decades at his golf clubs and resorts. And yet now, we pretend the illegal immigrant is somehow to blame for what any of us would do in their shoes.

The only thing I am in fear of is the spending proposals the democratic WH candidates. If anyone thinks the last 20 years have been bad wait and see what happens if one of the far left candidates get in.....estimated additional spending on programs as high as $80 trillion over 10 years.....IOW $4+ trillion in additional spending, on average, per year.....that should scare everyone.

No. There have been several Democratic presidents. None has had open borders. More fear-mongering.

Why would anyone be scared? Historically we have had lower deficits when the democrats have been in charge. It is not like the current administration has been anything remotely resembling fiscally responsible.

...there's no reason we can't have a rational debate on our national priorities....unless of course, we go along with the fear-based narratives.

True, probably would not be the Country that it used to be.

It would be the country as it was 3 or 4 years ago. You know, record high stock markets, low unemployment, sustained economic growth, shrinking deficits. That sort of thing. Not sure why anyone would panic about that. Seems kinda irrational.

Trillions in deficit spending isn't making the far-right panic now. Why would they suddenly change their minds if the letter after the president's name changes from R to D?

Can anyone say why my tax dollars should be spent on 15th century technology (walls) that border crossers can compromise in a matter of hours?

Would it not be more rational to examine the root causes of illegal immigration and address those?
