  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, please keep us updated in all areas. I'd like to hear about the DS, Revolution, and the PS3. 360 I don't care about, but I don't think you'd see much of that at a Japanese Game Show anyway. I'd like to go, but airfare to Japan isn't exactly cheap, and it's not like I can take a week off from college to hear about video games, as much as I'd like to.

What Revolution? (it's a rhetorical question)

Anyway, the TGS is going to be mainly Sony. Nintendo doesn't even attend this show (although I have no idea why. I imagine it would be great publicity). All that will be of the Wii and DS will be 3rd party games. I'm hoping some of these games for the Wii will be playable, as I would like to try it out if the line-ups aren't three hours long (as I'm sure they would be). There will be some Microsoft there, but this show will definitely be focusing most of it's attention on the Playstation 3. It should still be a blast though!

I'll probably go on the Saturday. Admission is ¥1200, so it's not that expensive (around $10 USD). I'd go on the Sunday too, but I'll be with my girlfriend and would rather do something other than stare at a gameshow with her. Maybe we'll stare at aquarium fish instead...:D

If you really want to go, this isn't the peak flying season. Airfare isn't that expensive... as far as flights to Japan go. :sorry: If you really want, I'm sure you'll make it here eventually.

BTW, you might be surprised at how popular the X-Box 360 seems to be here. It's usually at the centre of the main displays in the game sections of department stores and in game stores. The 360 demos usually have someone playing it, while the PS2 demos remain empty (mind you, there are more PS2 demos running than 360s). Yes, the PS2 is more popular, but the 360 seems to be holding it's own better than I expected it too. This is right in Tokyo, bytheway. I'm hoping for it to do well, since compatition is a good thing.

If I do go, I'll try to write something about it and post it here.

Thanks for this info. It's actually fairly interesting, and good to hear that the console is getting some attention overseas. I hardly want the other two entries to disappear, but the 360 is a thoroughly worthy piece of hardware and logistics. It's good to hear that it's not getting ignored for its origins.

True that. It is true that Japan is a very racist country overall. It's good that stores aren't showing this with the X-Box 360s. 360s are well displayed in every game store I've been around.

As to whether people are actually buying it or not, I have no idea.

Speaking of being "racist", the X360 is not doing very good in Japan. I was just listening to an interview where MS admits to this but are working on games that would appeal better to the Japanese gamer like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey

So when is the show anyway?

It started on Friday and ends tomorrow.
