  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Just for the record I do not pray for angels so that I can see them, but if it means we receive something God wants us to have then I am willing to ask.
Angels are servants just as we are, I do not think God would be angry at us for asking Him to send angels to minister to us.
Jesus had angel minister to Him after He was tempted by the devil, so if He needed them maybe we need or would benefit from them.
I do not seek angels but do want whatever He has for us.

The scripture actually says Jesus could have called a league of angels to save him from his cross because he is God, but he did not. He chose to suffer and die for us. I think it is important to ask God for help and mercy not the angels they are sent by God not summoned by us ever as far as I can see in scripture.

I agree, we should not pray to angels but ask God to send them, we do not summon them.

If they are ministering spirit sent out to render service, then we must have encounter them, and thus should know that and them.

If the Lord had you working with a pastor (a minister, let's call him Joe) and the pastor was in the room, would there ever be a time when you might say, 'hey Joe, I have a quetions for you?'

So how is your relationship with the angels He sent to minister and render service to you? Do you know them? Do you hear from them? Do you know their names?

We are part of the Kingdom of God. We should know that.

I believe often we do not realize they are angels. This for sure was modeled in the OT as a pattern often it was only after they left or based on the message they brought that the truth of their nature was revealed. I personally have never met one that I know of, but I believe they will identify themselves as messengers from God or speak under the authority of the Lord God as in Revelation. It was not immediately clear to John who was with him and that is why he fell down and worshipped the angel. If even he can be confusesd I suppose we all could be.

Jesus was fully God and he was also fully man. The question to answer is this. Was Jesus saying that he could ask his father for twelve legions of angels as Jesus the man or as Jesus who is God ?

Because as God , of course he has authority over the angels. But my understanding of how things worked was that Jesus operated as a man during his ministry upon earth. That he was sinless , and performed miracles with no special advantage over us. He had to ask in faith the same way that we do. When he says that he could pray to the Father , that implies that he was asking as Jesus , the man.

So how do we decide that in some cases that we can follow Jesus example and in other cases we are not to follow the example of Jesus ? If Jesus , the man on earth , can ask the Father to send angels to help him in his situation , then why can't we ? There is no Scripture which forbids asking God to send angels to help us.

Also. Isn't it odd that it is phrased this way ? I mean why didn't Jesus just say that he had the authority to get out of his situation. Why include this phrase about a specific number of angels being called ?

I can certainly understand the concerns about areas where the Bible is silent. But on the other side of it , a good Bible scholar knows to ask the right questions. Why is this reference to calling angels included in the Bible at all , when it could just as easily have been left out ? What is the edification or doctrine that it is trying to teach us ?

Jesus says that he could have called the angels and did not because it was God's will for him to suffer this way and fulfill the prophecies. In other words , he did it intentionally , not because he lacked the resources to win the battle. I get out of that that one of the resources available to us is asking the Father to send angels to help us.

Mat 26:52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
Mat 26:53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
Mat 26:54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

Jesus explained that the Kingdom of God was in our midst!!!

Jesus also said, 'With their ears they barely hear and with their eyes they don't see..."

Certian Jesus was not talking about our fleshy eyes and ears. Virtually all of us see and hear with our fleshy eyes and ears. Yet angels are ministering spirits! So if I say I have never meet one, isn't there something that many have entertained angels and not known it. If we barely hear with our spiritual ears, and if we don't see with our spiritual eyes, then how are we doing to know if we have been in the presence of angels? How is it that the Kingdom of God is in our midst and we don't know it? Isn't it because we barely hear with our ears and don't see with our eyes.

If You care to believe it, the Lord has me usually working with angels several times a week, and He still gets on to me a bit for not paying more attention. This is all a bit hard to explain to someone who doesn't listen. How can they understand this? They say that they have never encounted an angel, but they have because it is written that their voice has gone out to the entire world.

So we are back to the problem of getting people to hear with their spiritual ears. How many times is Jesus recored as saying, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."?

That of course is a parable, because we all have fleshy ears and eyes, so we all have spiritual ears and eyes, but we just don't use them. We are just men of little faith, so we barely believe in God and have trouble beliving in His Kingdom that is in our midst.

Check the spirits, because not all spirits serve the Lord, but how are you going to check the spirits in your midst if you don't even know when they are there?

Since the thread is on Bently. It seemed to me that he had ears to hear and maybe eyes to see, but it also seems like he didn't take time to check the spirits like he should have. Does that make him better or worse than someone that doesn't even take the time to hear with their spiritual ears and see with their spiritual eyes.

Again; Jesus explained that with their ears they don't hear and their eyes they don't see otherwise they would turn back to Him and He will heal them. I believe that Mr. Bently, because he has ears to hear and eyes to see, will turn humbly back to the Lord and listen to Him and be healed. I believe he will learn to check the spirits. I believe he will learn not to do some of the things he didn't I believe that he is being taught by the Lord.

Yet for those that don't even take time to hear with their spiritual ears, how are they even hearing the Spirit of God?

We serve the Lord, who sends the Holy Spirit with words for us, but not only the Holy Spirit but also His ministering angels, but we don't pay attention to what is going on around us. It reminds me of the story about the man with the prophet who was looking at the army of the enemy thinking they were going to be defeated. But the prophey saw the larger army of angels around the enemy, and prayed that the man with him would have his eyes open. The man had no idea of the hugh army of God because he didn't see with his spiritual eyes.

What a shoick it must have been when the mans eyes were open. How many would be shock in that same way today if with their ears they started hearing and with their eyes they started seeing?

The problem with this for me is you are assuming we are to be aware when they are there and be able to communicate with them.

Not all angels appear in the natural.
The kingdom includes the unseen.

Heb 1:7 And of the angels He says, "Who makes His angels spirits and His ministers a flame of fire."
According to Esword the meaning of spirit includes a current of air , that is breath (blast) or a breeze.
Have you ever felt a wind during worship that came from nowhere, unexplained.
Could the tongues of fire at pentecost have been angels?
