  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The Associated Press: Tax rebates start going out today, earlier than ...

It's galling to think that taxpayers' stimulus checks will be lining the pockets of OPEC. The sad truth is that the average American family will spend almost their entire stimulus ...

I DID 'wonder'

Well I would doubt that it was censored for that would serve little purpose with so many ways available for so many people to state their opinions about the stimulus payment. Originally based on the last four digits of my Social Security number I had calulated the arrival of my check (actually direct deposit to checking account)to occur on the first day they were scheduled or May 2.

I was wrong.

I also figured the amount for myself and my wife as $1200.00.

Again, I was wrong.

A few days prior to leaving on this vacation we received a letter from the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) advising that we would receive the payment on May 23, but the amount be for only $600.00 because we had too many itemized deductions on last year's income tax return.

As of this date, we haven't received money at all in any amount from the IRS. I am sure that there is a reason, but we are leaving it in Uncle Sam's very capable (???) hands. As a retired U.S. Govt. employee I understand only too well [LOL]!!!

Nevertheless I am very grateful that I wasn't dependent on that money to take this vacation!

Uncle Sam couldn't possibly have it riding in a high-interest account d'ya think ??

Such a shame you cannot claim loss of interest... over the period of the delay ?????

PS... I am wondering

If our government, will issue similar cheques over here to boost our economy ???
nah.........
Too many tax-payers
would complain about gifts from the treasury
to millions of unemployed and immigrant families
