that I have managed to complete redecoration
of the walls, doors and celing in the living room [lounge]

To be so-empowered, is indeed, such a blessing

A 'miracle' took place here this evening

I had been decorating all day
I had run the vacuum cleaner around picking up bits and pieces
dust, cobwebs, carpet backing and bits of wallpaper etc
I had, just to move the recliner chair
and do under it, to 'finish-up'
when, Mary called me for 'tea'

Afterwards I came in to the living room
and found a film we were going to watch together on TV

I reached down and turned out the standard lamp behind us
and Mary put on the infra red fire in the mock fireplace
that I had dismantled, decorated and replaced 'earlier'

While we were watching the film
'Teddy' chewed up about two foot of the vacuum cleaner cable

I had inadvertently, switched it off at the socket
whilst, searching for the standard lamp switch
and watching the film at the same time

I COULD, have killed Teddy [?]
if, I hadn't 'fluffed' turning off the standard-lamp [?]

I have no doubt, that I am being watched-over
and am led, in safe ways
although I may not be aware, that I am, at that time

Thank you Lord

Computers and the Internet (when it works properly). Through these I have new and wonderful friends on CF, I can communicate quicker than by sending a letter, meet with people all over the world without leaving my adopted island home, I have always been a keen chess player now I'm playing again via the Net and I love to learn new things, the list could go on but I'll stop here.

Hiyah Bro' WB

So you are a chess player too

I used to play online-chess via some site I found in my email at Yahoo
I haven't been back for several years [not since my divorce]
What, with one thing and another.... I didn't have the time 'to spare'

I agree, with what you say
regarding the advent of PC in our lives, opening up the world to us
'FROM WHERE WE ARE'
with what we have and,
with what we can achieve
each of us as 'individuals' in 'a worldwide family'

It is simply AMAZING.... what ?

your Bro'

Hi Dave,
Yesterday I played my Sweetie 2 games of Chess , & true to form, he let me win, again.
(He usually stays just one move ahead of me, until the end )

I keep saying: "We could re-ingineer this game, so that Everyone wins, you know we all lived happily... ever after kinda theme. &
He said: "sigh, the Iranians started Chess; so do you really think they will change? their minds"

I think, that Chess could be re-ingineered; what do you think?

Annie, it was devised as a game of strategy

To devise ways
of, weighing an opponents 'intentions'
fending off, the weight of, his offensive
and cutting off his frontline from his support troops
with the aim of cutting off his head
and toppling him from having any authority on the board

If you want to re-engineer that game
you had best resort to checkers

Having taught others Chess..., I know of which you speak.
Tho
when I checkmate, the other King still stands, & with his head attached for sure

If you want to re-engineer that game
you had best resort to checkers
