Actually you couldn't be further from the truth!!! They give us some of the best insights as to the inner workings of active volcanos.
I'll take your word for it. I'm going to go stare at the cornfield that used to be a glacier in the past. I'm barely able to contain my excitement.

Eeewww! Continental glaciation! Now that's boring! :)

I grew up in Illinois and couldn't wait to get away from the billiard-table flatlands.

I tried, in college, to get as excited about the occasional glacial feature that stuck up above the horizon, but I just couldn't muster the love.

Oceans, mountains and igneous rocks are much more fun! And in southern Cali we got it all (despite our constant battles with the chupacabra, but that's not so bad when you consider the scenery!)

Geology was enough beyond me that it only took me a BS, MS and PhD in geology to finally find out I could get a better paying job in chemistry!:)

I think he was making a play at the fact that evil non-believers are responsible for "killing millions of people." That's a red herring and an out of place potshot.
Aah, OK, I just assumed Sea Shephard was being...something I can't say on these boards. :)
