Thanks for helping me to grow up, and to learn more about thinking and reasoning, and especially about how to pray. Fix my heart, O Lord, on you, that amid the changes and chances of this mortal life I may be kept steadfast and immovable, ever abounding in your work.

Fill me with your joy, O Lord, that I may have the means by which to give to my home and friends and to the great, sad world around me. Keep me from hiding my light under the bushel of my own anxieties.

Deliver me, O Lord, from every false way, that I may cling to you with a perfect heart, and so by your mercy may know you, as also I am known by you, through Jesus Christ.

Be my ruler and guide, gracious Father, that I may pass through temporal things in such a way as not to lose the things eternal.

Teach me to pray, O Lord, as you taught your disciples of old; and winnow my prayers that I may desire and ask only those things which are according to your will.
