  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

They aren't set though right? If they're set that lends itself to something placing those set rules on it! ;)

uh, yes. Nature. You know, the environment. That is what sets rules on it.

Just can't bring yourself to say "I don't know" can you. Laws and barriers in "nature" or "the environment" still have to come from somewhere. It's ok, its hard to accept that there is a higher power in control of the universe. When you do, you'll understand how silly the idea of "naturalistic only started by abiogenesis" evolution really has been all this time, and how much faith you've wasted on it. God bless!

We were talking about the lack of randomness of natural selection, and your argument is that God would have to set the rules that guide natural selection.

Thanks for agreeing that natural selection is not random.

to be or

That simple phrase requires eight taps on a keyboard, in the proper order:

  1. t
  2. o
  3. space
  4. b
  5. e
  6. space
  7. o
  8. r
Let's put a monkey in a room with a typewriter with only five keys:

  1. t
  2. o
  3. b
  4. e
  5. space
The chances of that monkey hitting the "t" is 1-in-5, then the "o" would be (1-in-5) x (1-in-5), or 1-in-25, or 1-in-5[sup]2[/sup].

His chance of typing "to be or" is 1-in-25[sup]8[/sup].

Picture him now with a standard qwerty keyboard, and I hope you get the idea that evolution can take a hike.

Thanks for the laugh AV. Always appreciated.

So... my guess is you'll never get 'to be or', you'll get a whole bunch of one of the letters and a ton of monkey poo stains.
And if you give a keyboard to a creationist, you'll get mostly poo.

Oh dear. Maybe if you knew a bit more about evolution, you might be more adept at creating reasonable analogies.

An African monkey or a European monkey?

What is its favorite color?

How can the monkey type "to be or" if the typewriter does not even have an "r" in it?

So the chances of the monkey correctly typing the phrase is zero in however many you like.

If you were talking to me, flattery will get you nowhere.
Just to notice you is to flatter you.

Then it's guided?

From your challenge:
I am playing a computer game. I am presented with a screen coloured red. At certain intervals, 20 small coloured squares appear in random locations in this red screen. They can be of any colour, and of any brightness. They can be blue, green, red, light or dark, black or white or any shade of grey. The colours are completely random.
Sounds random to me.
