First, each person is accountable individually, so there is no being misled.
John 7:17 If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine,
whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
1 John 4:6 We are of God: he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God hears not us.
Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
We are expected to speak the truth in love,
not strive with those who find doctrines that appeal to them.
2 Timothy 2:
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men,
apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves
if God peradventure will give them repentance to
acknowledging the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil,
who are taken captive by him at his will.
The only burden that leaves is that we be assured that we are not in error ourselves.
That is a burden we must settle in our own conscience, not in the agreement of others,
regardless of the esteem in which they are held.
1 John 3:
19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth,
and shall assure our hearts before him.
20 For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.
22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments
and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son
Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.
So keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. Ask and receive and the Lord is with you, as He promised.
Lastly, I would remind you that the apostles were instructed to shake the dust off their feet from entire villages
who did not receive them. Spiritually, our burden is our own, to cast upon Him and assure are hearts before Him.
Galatians 6:5 For every man shall bear his own burden.
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he cares for you.
