I've studied Catholicism for years.

Actually it is not one on one. That is a common modern evangelical distortion of the Gospel. A relationship with Christ is Trinitarian, and therefore exists in community. One's relationship with Christ is persoanl, but never private.

Why would anyone want to be catholics? I cannot for the life of me figure out why every day people would worship such an organization? Have they no common sense? Do they know right from wrong? ok, if that quote is inaccurate then that was an obviously stupid thing to say. but i would like some context and verification of accuracy before I judge. and either way, youre not giong to convince me that superflous language ACTUALLY means a claim to divinity.

Context of the statement indicates that this is not a claim to the Godhead.

But since We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty, Who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the Truth, and now that Our advanced age and the bitterness of anxious cares urge Us on towards the end common to every mortal, We feel drawn to follow the example of Our Redeemer and Master, Jesus Christ, Who, when about to return to Heaven, implored of God, His Father, in earnest Prayer, that His Disciples and followers should be of one mind and of one heart: I pray . . . that they all may be one, as Thou Father in Me, and I in Thee: that they also may be one in Us. Also consider the conclusion:

May God, Who is rich in Mercy, and in Whose Power are the times and moments, grant Our wishes and desires, and in His great Goodness, hasten the fulfillment of that Divine Promise of Jesus Christ: There will be One Fold and One Shepherd.​

Seems to me that this shows Leo XIII knew the difference between himself and the Godhead.
