Red Wolf: I want to be absolutely clear here.

Is it your claim that Roman Catholics worship the Pope in the same manner as you worship God?

No prevarications, no pictures, no quotes from obscure publications.

Simply answer the question.

My name is Redwolf, not Red Wolf. Do you see the distinction? It was given to me by my father, War Chief of the Cherokee, Clan of the..........not your business. Please make a note of it.

I cannot hope to see what is in the mind of Catholics in their approach to the pope. Outward appearances suggest that their veneration is well-developed.
Nor do you know how I worship my God.

This is to close for comfort for me.

This Synod can be read, in this area, as an expression of full communion with and in the Universal Church, and with the Roman Pontiff His Holiness John Paul II "the sweet Christ on earth". ..Vatican Source #5:

Synodus Episcoporum 15 - 8.10.1999

... The twentieth century was one of the most crucial in human history, with its tragic and cruel events culminating in the assassination attempt on the “sweet Christ on earth”. Now a veil is drawn back on a series of events which make history and interpret it in depth, in a spiritual perspective alien to present-day attitudes, often tainted with rationalism. ...

Introduction to the Third Secret of Fatima, by Tarcisio Bertone, SDB, Archbishop Emeritus of Vercelli, Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Following are remarks reportedly made at the Mass celebrating Pope John Paul II's 80th birthday:
... In a greeting before the Mass, Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos, prefect of the Congregation for Clergy, told the pope that those gathered prayed that God might let him ``still guide us for a long time.''
``We feel that we are led by a man of God, who has won love and respect beyond every human barrier,'' he said.
``The Lord has truly prepared an athlete to untiringly travel the streets of the world,'' said the Colombian cardinal.
``Thank you, sweet Christ on earth, for those white hairs, for the suffering which has made you even more dear in our eyes, for your steps, as spiritually intrepid as physically tired,'' he said. ...

Where do you come up with this stuff? It's great......it really proves the point. Keep up the good work.
I've studied Catholicism for years.
Also, now that we have the internet, access to the beliefs of all denominations is swift. Ask Mr. Google a question and he is happy to take you there.

ok, if you really think "Sweet Christ on earth" means "Hey im God, worship me," then i dont know what to tell you. I agree that these titles are absurd. but to say the Pope thinks himself to be God is far more absurd.

Well you must admit it is pretty stupid to allow yourself to be called that.

A relationship with Christ is not Borg. It is one on one.

Actually it is not one on one. That is a common modern evangelical distortion of the Gospel. A relationship with Christ is Trinitarian, and therefore exists in community. One's relationship with Christ is persoanl, but never private.

1. the Pope has never claimed to be God. You should take a lesson in manners. Spreading false information would probably be discouraged
2. that quote had nothing to do with anything. How dare the Pope fight aganist a secularized society!!

Get this ....we ALL know what the Lord say's about Homosexuals in the bible ......YET it is allowed in Catholic church. CLEARLY against God.....and all for Satan and his cosmic system..........

what do you mean by allowing homosexuality? they certainly dont condone living a homosexual lifestyle.

Why would anyone want to be catholics? I cannot for the life of me figure out why every day people would worship such an organization? Have they no common sense? Do they know right from wrong? Why do they not follow the doctrines of our Lord? Why do they follow the doctrines of man? If you think I'm wrong?......check this out!

1. they do not WORSHIP the Church any more than Protestants worship the Bible.
2. that website is ridonk.

ok, if that quote is inaccurate then that was an obviously stupid thing to say. but i would like some context and verification of accuracy before I judge. and either way, youre not giong to convince me that superflous language ACTUALLY means a claim to divinity.

Paul says that he forgave someone's sins in the place of Christ. This is def. not a claim to divinity.

That's why I asked.
I make no claims. You do.
It is your philosphy that declares the unlimited majesty of the pope.
Inquiring minds wonder about it, and when the heart is full, the mouth runs over.

Context of the statement indicates that this is not a claim to the Godhead.

But since We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty, Who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the Truth, and now that Our advanced age and the bitterness of anxious cares urge Us on towards the end common to every mortal, We feel drawn to follow the example of Our Redeemer and Master, Jesus Christ, Who, when about to return to Heaven, implored of God, His Father, in earnest Prayer, that His Disciples and followers should be of one mind and of one heart: I pray . . . that they all may be one, as Thou Father in Me, and I in Thee: that they also may be one in Us. And as this Divine Prayer and Supplication does not include only the souls who then believed in Jesus Christ, but also every one of those who were henceforth to believe in Him, this Prayer holds out to Us no indifferent reason for confidently expressing Our hopes, and for making all possible endeavors in order that the men of every race and clime should be called and moved to embrace the Unity of Divine Faith.

http://www.papalencyclicals.net/Leo13/l13praec.htm

Also consider the conclusion:

May God, Who is rich in Mercy, and in Whose Power are the times and moments, grant Our wishes and desires, and in His great Goodness, hasten the fulfillment of that Divine Promise of Jesus Christ: There will be One Fold and One Shepherd.

Seems to me that this shows Leo XIII knew the difference between himself and the Godhead.
