  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Enforcement is hampered and made to be more dangerous by the lack of support from sanctuary cities and states. The problems encountered in Minnesota are not happening in localities that support ICE enforcement.
Homan is Minnesota right now trying to work this out. Minnesota is fighting him. If Democrats are so concerned about the way ICE is trying to pick up illegal criminals then they should cooperate with the Feds and let them know when they pick up an illegal who has committed a crime instead of letting them go.
Democrats are SO concerned that ICE isn't just picking up the criminals. And demand that only criminals are picked up. Yet they refuse to cooperate with ICE and let them know when they have a criminal in custody. So exactly how is ICE supposed to go about picking them up? They HAVE to go to the places where the criminals are. Which ALSO means they are more likely to find illegals that have not been arrested for criminal acts.
Homan has made it clear. If you want ICE out then STOP being a sanctuary city and state. Let ICE know when you have an illegal that was arrested. Why on earth do Democrats and liberals oppose this?

Courts have ruled otherwise.
No they have not.
That is literally the debate going on in Congress right now over the funding of DHS.
No its not. Democrats have not put forth any laws or bills that only allow ICE to use certain methodologies to pick up illegals.
Correct. However, there are cases where the observers appear to be merely following and observing cars on public streets, and are being arrested at gunpoint.
No they are NOT just following and documenting. Thats a complete falsehood. They are honking horns, blowing whistles, yelling and screaming at the agents, blocking them in. We watched Pretti kicking out a tail light and spitting at agents. They are not just observers, they are agitators.
Or observers being arrested for similar nonobstructive behavior guaranteed by the First Amendment.
Following LE around is suspicious enough to make a stop. Especially when those doing so have been proven to be obstructive in their behavior including blocking agents in, honking joins and blowing whistles, yelling and screaming in order to prevent them from doing their jobs. Some of them have rammed agents. Yes, I have no issues with how they are reacting to those who are doing such things.

LEAVE THE AGENTS ALONE. Let them do their jobs and they will do so effectively and quietly. Its the agitators that are creating the chaos.

Jan 6 was not civil disobedience. It was uncivil and violent.
I wish I had your rose colored glasses because civil disobedience is against the law when others' civil rights are violated. But since these protesters fit your ideology, you tend to ignore the violence, or, from what I read, make excuses for it. If you do a Google search, maybe AI can help you understand that both

Violent Acts by Protesters Against ICE in 2025

1. Alvarado, Texas — Ambush/Attack on ICE Facility (July 4, 2025)

  • A group opposed to ICE allegedly set off fireworks and vandalized vehicles and a guard post outside the Prairieland ICE detention center.
  • Individuals then fired rifles at arriving officers, injuring an Alvarado police officer (not ICE) in the neck.
  • Federal prosecutors charged at least ten people with attempted murder of federal officers and discharging firearms during a violent crime connected to the incident.
Types of violent acts: Vandalism, weapon discharge, shooting.

2. Los Angeles Area Anti‑ICE Protests (June 6–7, 2025)

Reports from federal agencies and later prosecutions describe multiple violent actions by protesters during demonstrations linked to ICE raids:

  • Throwing objects at law enforcement: Protesters hurled rocks, chunks of concrete, bottles, and debris at officers during clashes near federal buildings.
  • Spray‑painting and property damage: Demonstrators defaced federal property with anti‑ICE slogans and tagging.
  • Molotov cocktail attacks: At least one individual later pleaded guilty to lighting and throwing a Molotov cocktail at deputies during these protests in Paramount, California (sentence reported in early 2026).
Types of violent acts: Projectiles thrown at officers, incendiary device use, property vandalism.

3. Minneapolis / Portland Protests (June 2025)

  • During protests outside the ICE field office in Portland, reports indicate protesters assaulted a federal officer, used a stop sign as a battering ram, and shattered a glass door of a federal building, which led to riot declarations and arrests.
Types of violent acts: Physical assault on officer, demolition of federal property.

Civil disobedience is always against the law. That's the whole point. However, we can distinguish civil disobedience from violence.

My participation in this non-news thread was to add some news about Jewish senior citizens making plans to 'harbor' their caregivers.

How are these examples of civil disobedience?

Don't most see it as the non-violent, intentional and public breaking of the law? Being arrested is then part of the protest, and seen as a acceptable risk or even a good thing (it gives one an opportunity to speak your grievances in the public square).

Because MANY but not all of them want the illegals here and Many but not all use some fake moral high ground for justification. No problem putting a grandmother in prison for praying out side of an abortion clinic, but do not deport a murderer or child molester. Why do MANY but not all liberals want illegals here. Several reasons apply! 1. Because Trump wants them gone and has been so successful at it . 2. More potential eventual voters that can easily be controlled because of the freebies given . 3. More potential house seats from future census numbers . The moral outrage by MANY but not all is fake and is bought and paid for in MANY but not all cases. The bottom line reason is hatred for Trump. My disclaimer: MANY but not all Democrats or liberals feel this way but MANY provably do. I want to stay within forum rules by not broad brushing any one group of people.

/ˈvī(ə)lənt/

adjective
  1. using or involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something.
"a violent confrontation with riot police" Maybe this definition will help distinguish what is happening with MANY ICE protest from actual peaceful protest.

I know what violence is. Perpetrators of violence cannot call what they do civil disobedience, at least from my understanding of civil disobedience. So I was asking what definition of civil disobedience was used?
