You must use the whole context of Jesus sermon, start at verse 3 (remember Jesus walked under the old covenant, He was the only one who fulfill the requirements)

(Mat 23:2-3 NIV) "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. (3) So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.

As you can see, If I am to obey all of that sermon, I should leave the church and find those who sit in Moses seat (law giver), and obey the Pharasees. Keep the verses in context is very important. Also The church has made tithe the most import which that was a rebuke from Jesus. Should have made judgement, mercy...

You are correct, in a sense. I might suggest that those who sit in Peter's seat are the heirs to this teaching, but it is up to your own conscious to determine this. "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains upon him."

Hi aforchrist33,
I've read your study and got stuck in the first line! Romans 11:27 did not say anything about tithing, I've looked the previous verses and verses after v27, I could not find anything about tithing . Care to explain?

NO, I'm no longer a servant but a child of God.

Wow, that was an amazing thing to say.. No longer a servent but a child of God..
Arent we all supposed to be servents to the Lord, just because we are servents certainly doesnt mean that we are not child's of God as well..

2 cor 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God Loveth a cheerful giver..

If your going to sin over giving. I think God perfers comunication vs seperation

Does God need money ?

John 1:3 All things werwe made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made

Does God work thru us?

amazingly yes

Philppians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus

A Brethren IN CHRIST said:
2 cor 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God Loveth a cheerful giver.

I think that this is an excellent verse to quote a brethren! So we are to give cheerfully, as we have purposed in our hearts, not according to a preset amount as in seen in a tithe. So the question then becomes on what do we base what we should purpose in our heart? Let's see what the Bible has to say about that:

1 Corinthians 16:2 ASV

Upon the first day of the week let each one of you lay by him in store, as he may prosper, that no collections be made when I come.

In the New Testament that pattern that we have been given is that of cheerful giver who lays by in store on the first day of the week as they have prospered. They are then to give what they have laid aside with a cheerful heart knowing that the money they give has been given in order the the word of God and the gospel might be spread to those who have not yet heard or are in error with what they believe.

Why can't we just do what Abraham did -- tithe to Melchizedek, which most believe was Jesus. This was before the law. And Jesus is NOW High Priest in the order of Melchi.

And why do Christians make such a big theological fuss abt parting with 10% of their income. They dont think twice about paying their house, car, insurance, club membership installments faithfully every month but are so reluctant when it comes to God, the source of all their blessings.

The issue isn't about money, it's about adding things that aren't commanded of us. We are under a covenant, and that covenant states that we are to give as we have prospered. Why should we part from the word of God on the issue? This is what God has prescribed in His providence. There is not a set limit or token amount that we must give. We may give more than 10%, or less than 10% depending on how we prosper. There have been weeks where I was able to lay aside in store a great portion, and others where that was not possible.
