A question, i am not saying you are wrong im just wondering inregards to Giving to be a stretch, do u have any verses to back this up?this would be appreciated

The majority of the posts content was in reegard to verses that I had posted previously.

Faith without works is dead (believing and not acting is proof of dead faith)

God gives generously (James 1)

We should be immitators of Christ aka God (you find that one I am at work and cant look it up)

Agreed but it never really says give more than you can so it stretches you does it?

oh yes and on someone saying the tithe has switched from crops to currency in modern times.

Actually they had currency as far back as Abraham, he paid 400 Shekels for Sarah's grave - so to assert that the tithe has "switched" because they didn't have money is not contextually correct with reference to the Scriptures.

If you can show me from God's Word where His commandment set fourth regarding the tithe "switched" from grain/produce/animals to currency I'd be all ear's.

Anyone who does not believe in tithing must believe in giving more then 10% for it to be biblical ( the scripture stating we must be more righteous then the scribes and teachers to inherit heaven)

Since when does the amount we give make us 'more righteous'?


As for why someone_else and I give 10%: As I stated previously, I personally feel that if God required 10% from His people in OT times, then why would He require anything less as a minimum now? Yes, we give a minimum 10% to our church, but not because we are taught to tithe. It is just the amount we believe God has set as a minimum, so we give this to our church willingly, but we also give to God in other ways beyond this 10%.
