it does not contridict the principle of tithing... The truth in tithing will NEVER change... you do it and God will open a window in heaven and pour out blessings that will be almost to large to receive.

On the other hand... Christians are not told to tithe but:

2 Cor 9:7
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

And if you go to Acts the new Christians did not tithe but they gave generously of what they had.

Acts 2 42They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. 46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

They as many Christians do gave more than a 10th of what they had. I know that my offerings are always more than a 10th of what God gives me.

Remember in Christ we have freedom he fulfilled the law on our behalf. And if you choose to live by the law and not grace... you will be judged by the law and NOT grace.

And further more if you break any one law... you will be condemned by the entirety of the law.... ummm I think Grace through Christ is a safer bet for me.

If you want to know about Tithing here is the best answer. But you must have "Real Audio" to listen to this. This is a great site for Christianity. Written by a famous
pastor.
Go go the site intouch.org. Click on "My Intouch" and click on "Audio Archives"
You will see the audio archives list for 2003. Go to the very bottom of the list.
Select the one for Jan 1, 2003 and listen ( This will take about 20 minutes ).
Do the same for Jan 2 and Jan 3, 2003. I will bet you will know everything about
Tithing and end up being financially free of burdens. It works!
