How broadly do you guys define who you tithe to?

Tithing is an Old Covenant principle.
But we are under the New Covenant now!

And under the New Covenant, ALL that we have belongs to the Lord ... our monies, time, talents, etc.
More than 10% is required of us now. Our entire lives are His, not just 10% of them.
But yes, I know. Many churches tell us differently.

I recently heard one Protestant preacher actually say that we are 'cursed' if we do not tithe 10%. (Yikes!)
And he preached on this topic, 3 Sundays in a row.
(To me, a total waste of 'air time'.)

Under the New Covenant, we are told to be generous givers.
Our Heavenly Father is generous; as His children, we are to be generous, too.
How generous ... and towards whom ... should be a matter between ourselves and the Lord.

... those are my thoughts on tithing.

Yes we are to deny ourselves and store up treasures in heaven, not calculate the 90/10 spilt

We give here expecting nothing in return. I have heard tithe preachers that we are to use the tithe to gain blessing from God, wrong. I laugh now, but when I used to believe that false teaching, I would get proud when I tithed and expect God would bless me materially. Thankfully all these major financial disasters would happen to me when I did that. This was part of that which drove me on and allowed God to lead me home to the Church
Blessed is the man whom God chastises. He wounds but he binds up. He smites but his hands give healing
