If American manufacturing can't compete on price, forcing prices to rise to the level of American-made goods is...not a great option. Especially if you've just won an election largely on the back of people struggling with inflation and high prices for goods.I love free trade, but I don't like our manufacturing getting hollowed-out, and the country being largely dependent on countries like China for our pharmaceuticals, etc.

remind me whats bad about trade deficits? I did the math, but there is a trade deficit between canada and the US, and ironicly it's canada that has it, per capita canadians buy more stuff then americans. Were about 1/8th the population but no where near that in trade quick math could have messed up but per capita canada buys nearly 10X's more then the US does, 350$'s us buys vs, over 3k from Canada. I bet you it's the same with every other country.
So yeah, the US is ripping off canada and not buying enough.
Huh. I’m more concerned with the 75 million who couldn’t see any of this coming and still refuse to see it all for what it is.God help us. We have a full fledged idiot in the White house.
What's even worse, they know people will see through this number stunt, but with his base sure to be board, they don't care.
Pro-tariff personages have been comparing the situation to victory gardens and other wartime efforts. If the American people can't be counted upon to do their part -- after government propaganda fails to steel their resolve -- they deserve what they get.that won't stop China from dumping goods into the US
Tit for tat. That's the game theoretic strategy. For them to do otherwise would be irrational. Why should they prevent that when Trump's actions require it?and won't prevent the EU from slapping 30-40% combined tariff, duties, and VATs on our exports
Right, the fault is in their stars.Boomers want cheap stuff and rising stocks,
thats exactly what democrats need to do, force these too votes, if they don't work when things go bad americans know wh to blame.4 Republican senators join with Democrats to pass bill to overturn Trump’s Canada tariffs
Four Republicans — Sens. Mitch McConnell (Kentucky), Susan Collins (Maine), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Rand Paul (Kentucky) — defied Trump and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-South Dakota) by voting with Democrats to invalidate a national emergency that Trump declared in February, allowing him to impose a 25 percent tariff on Canadian goods.
[It passed 51-48]
Trump has vowed to veto the bill, even if it made it through the Republican-controlled House.

yes, we all have seen that story like 6 times this morningDepartment of Geographic Errors
‘Nowhere on Earth is safe’: Trump imposes tariffs on uninhabited islands near Antarctica
Australian prime minister surprised after external territories – including tiny Norfolk Island and remote islands home to penguins [see, it's not uninhabited!] – targeted by US president
Heard Island and McDonald Islands, which form an external territory of Australia, are among the remotest places on Earth, accessible only via a two-week boat voyage from Perth on Australia’s west coast. They are completely uninhabited, with the last visit from people believed to be nearly 10 years ago.

Trump has also targeted Réunion Island, which is an overseas department of France -- making it every bit a part of France (and the Eurozone) as Hawai'i is of the US.
The President of the United States should not be waving around a placard with silliness on it.it is silly for sure
If we are considering "where" the idiocy really lies, I suggest the obvious - the voter.he is such an idiot the Democrats couldn't beat him in a general election
because they nominated a much bigger idiot
As much as I like over the next four years.agreed
so how many more times are you going to talk about it this morning?
so....trump has created communism trying to fight it? :> I love it.Canada Hits US Autos With Tariffs, Mirroring Trump’s Move
Stellantis says it will temporarily lay off 900 US workers following tariff announcement
The maker of Ram trucks and Jeeps said the U.S. plants affected are powertrain and stamping facilities that provide parts for the two factories in Mexico and Canada that are being idled.
Toluca Assembly in Mexico, where the Jeep Compass and Jeep Wagoneer S are made, will be down for the month of April, the company said.
Workers at Toluca will continue to report to work and get paid but will not make vehicles, according to the company. [Gosh, what it must be like to live in a country with worker protections.]
In Retaliatory Move, Heard and McDonald Islands Slap Outrageous 90% Tariff on US Krill
The fact that you actlike it's not impotant is reason enough. The preisdent of the united states, is too stupid to realize he's tariffing places no one lives, what other idiotic things is he doing that are far worse. It shows again either carelessness, or incompetency enough to be dangerous and should be impeached.yes, we all have seen that story like 6 times this morning
it is silly for sure, but I am pretty sure there are more important things to talk about, unless you want to put up some cat videos as well
I doubt Doddering Donald even knows what day of the week it is, let alone which places tariffs are being put on (or even what tariffs are, as he has proven time and again). The fact that you actlike it's not impotant is reason enough.
