The goal of the tariff is to get the manufacturers to move some of their work back here. We cannot continue to outsource the country NAFTA style. A few people working cannot sustain supporting all the people who don't work here. Mercantilism simply does not work.There's already a thread on Canada going back and forth with the US. This thread is for any tariffs involving the US: Canada, Mexico, EU, Japan, wherever.
Europe has responded to Trump's steel tariffs with a 50% tariff tariff on American whiskey.
And now Trump is considering a tariff tariff tariff due to the tariff tariff.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump slammed the E.U. as “one of the most hostile and abusive taxing and tariffing authorities in the World, which was formed for the sole purpose of taking advantage of the United States.” He called the proposed tariff on American whiskey, an industry that is already facing a slowdown in the U.S. market, “nasty.”
“If this Tariff is not removed immediately, the U.S. will shortly place a 200% Tariff on all WINES, CHAMPAGNES, & ALCOHOLIC PRODUCTS COMING OUT OF FRANCE AND OTHER E.U. REPRESENTED COUNTRIES,” Trump wrote.
