  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I dunno. I've found that it becomes a cycle. Things usually pick up again when I'm both in fellowship and fresh from a special event like a retreat or conference or something (at my age, they are plentiful). Of course, there's also just getting so fed up with yourself that you just put out an extra effort to change - stepped up prayer, stepped up Bible reading, stepped up obedience, etc. Having other believers pray for you is another good way to snap out of it.

Hello DawnTillery.

I get more frustrated than weary. But weary sure comes around also.

Two things come to mind. First, being around other Christians helps. Felt good this past Sunday after talking with a lady who lost her husband a few years ago but not her faith. Knew them both, he was strong in his faith. Good role model.

Second, just wait. As twistedsketch mentioned, things go in cycles.

I'm not much for proof texting, things get twisted out of context easily. But perhaps this section of scripture may apply.

Romans 5:1-5 ESV - Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

I read a devotional (I have 2 sent to my email every day), listen to Christian programming either online or on the radio, read my Pray through the Bible devotional (VERY GOOD devotional...I would suggest it to anyone), pray the rosary, or just sit outside for awhile and open my heart up to God's creation. ^_^
