  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Dear Rockdog214,
If you are teaching martial arts still and have not repented, then you should not be allowed to teach anything in Gods house. You are a double minded man, you have a foot in both camps, one in satan's camp ( martial arts) and one in Gods, chosse this day whom you will sever, and then commit yourself whole heartedly to that camp.

So do you believe that all contact sports are evil?

I just started teaching a rite-13 program in my church and I have never taught anything besides martial arts before, so I was wondering if someone could give me some tips so that I can do a good job with these kids

First of all, I studied four disciplines within the martial arts for almost thirty years (not counting the Judo I learned in the Marine Corps) and there is not a thing in the world wrong with it, so long as you don't make an idol out of it, like I've seen some people do, so don't let anybody discourage you.

Now, on to teaching.

I'm a big picture guy. My philosophy is to teach the principle first and come back and teach the details later.

I do this by using neumonic (sp?) devices, such as acronyms.

For instance, in the apologetics class I teach, when we want to teach people how to defend the truth of the Bible, we teach them to think of it as the acronym M.A.P.S.

If you want to find treasure, you've got to have a map.

The Bible describes the Gospel as a treasure and God gives us M.A.P.S. to find it:

Manuscript evidence
Archeaological Evidence
Prophetic Evidence
Statistical Evidence

And then we take each of these things and build on them in more detail.

When my children were learning the books of the Bible, you would hear "Go Eat Pop Corn" (or God's Electric Power Company) around our house a lot.

"Go Eat Pop Corn", of course, would be GEPC, which we taught them stands for "Galatians, Ephesians, Philipians, Colosians".

I also teach a social issues class and one of the things we discuss is abortion.

In debating abortion, I teach them to focus on four key points and we spell it out as S.L.E.D.

That stands for "Size", "Level of development", "Environment", and "Degree of Dependancy".

You'd be amazed at how well people remember things when you reduce them down to an acronym.
