That's an odd one, though someone might be familiar with such a problem.

Only thing I would recommend; is to delete all your cookies;

this will force you to sign in to cf and make sure that you have to or else you know the cookies weren't cleared. You have to close the browser after clearing your cookies.

On internet explorer 7, you see tools at top right of screen on the browser; go into that, then internet options; then browsing history; then delete, which will bring up another menu; and delete all cookies.

Then close browser, reopen and as I said; cf should make you sign in and is how you know all cookies are gone.

But I don't see how that would fix that error.

If only having it today; then a restart of your system should clear the problem.

If in another software you've changed the keyboard; or the settings on it; such as choosing a different format for your keyboard; then that could be the cause; tho doubt you've done that.

When you go to control panel then keyboard should show your keyboard (under hardware there); tho mine shows one i used to have but mine is working fine.

If you see two listed; perhaps is why; as mine shows only one.

So, I hope someone else is familiar with this sort of situation as again; I'm not familiar with it.

Let us know what it was in the end.

Thanks,

I just noticed in your OP that your e's show a tiny hash mark on top which is not what a normal E looks like.

I found all this using start, help, first keyboard; then scrolled to keyboard, then, i entered in the search box keyboard layout and that is shown below this list; so go thru keyboard layout and see if you have somehow changed the layout.. as the e's should not have a hash mark as they are now showing in your op post; little dashes above the E is not the normal e, so i suspect the layout has been changed somehow.

Read all this before doing the cookies etc..

keyboard language

The language you want to use when you type. Some programs that are designed for the Windows platform recognize this setting. When you add a new keyboard language, a keyboard layout for that language is also added.

keyboard layout

The arrangement that accommodates the special characters and symbols used in different languages. Keyboard layouts affect which characters appear when you press the keys on your keyboard. After you change your keyboard layout, the characters that appear on your screen may no longer correspond to the characters that are printed on your keyboard keys.

To select a keyboard layout
  1. Open On-Screen Keyboard.
  2. On the Keyboard menu, select the following keyboard options:
    • Select the keyboard layout.
      • To use a keyboard layout which includes the numeric keypad, choose Enhanced Keyboard.
      • To use a keyboard layout that does not include the numeric keypad, choose Standard Keyboard.
    • Select the way the keys appear on the keyboard.
      • To display keys as they would normally appear on a standard keyboard, choose Regular Layout.
      • To display the most frequently used character keys together on the keyboard, choose Block Layout. (This also puts directional keys in the lower-right corner.)
    • Select the type of keyboard.
      • To use the U.S. standard keyboard, choose 101 keys.
      • To use the universal keyboard, choose 102 keys.
      • To use the keyboard that has additional Japanese characters, choose 106 keys.

Notes
  • To open On-Screen Keyboard, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Accessibility, and then click On-Screen Keyboard.
  • Block layout is especially useful if you are using Hover to select mode because the characters most used are easy to select.
  • The 102 keys and 106 keys settings are not available with Block Layout.
  • The program in which you want to type characters must be active while you are using On-Screen Keyboard.
okay, i see some things aren't showing above.

but to get to this lower portion of keyboard layout.. go to start; help and type in keyboard layout, which will give the above.

It's really strange. Now the question marks are again question marks! I wonder what it was? I didn't do anything to fix it.

It was only on CF that my dashes were accented small-cap e's and my questionmarks were large-cap E's. My word processor, in emails, there was no problem. But now it's gone. How strange!

That is strange. I'm glad it worked out.

I find with problems with my system that sometimes it's a restart or a default has changed for some odd reason and I have to reselect what something was always set to.

pc's are so persnickety!

I'm glad your keyboard is now behaving.:D

Take care,
