  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dear Daily Message Readers,

READ:Proverbs 16:1-9; Psalm 20

Psalm 20:4 (NIV) "May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed."

Are you a timekeeper? You know, are you the type of person that is always looking at your watch? Do people ask for or count on you to keep time or carry your watch around with you? If this sounds like you at any level, then you are a timekeeper!

The most amazing fact about clocks are that they record man’s time to the second. Many people have personal organizers to help them plan their time and remember appointments. And everyone, including timekeepers, are uneasy until their schedule for the day or week is set, and they get cranky when it gets thrown off.

God’s clock is different from our best time keeping abilities, however. His timing often disrupts our schedule, despite our best efforts to stay in control. Accepting His timetable in all decisions big and small is a tough part of spiritual maturity. Though interruptions, slowdowns, layoffs, changes, and accidents are part of life and may throw us for a loop, God is never surprised by any of them. He knows exactly what we need when we need it, and if we are faithful in waiting, He will bless us with heavenly rewards.

The apostle Paul understood the pain of waiting. He tried to get to Rome for months but kept being delayed (Romans 1:13-15). You may have a trip planned, a ministry event on the calendar, a job decision settled, or special event lined up in the next few months. However, unless you "commit to the Lord whatever you do," your plans, goals, hopes, and aspirations will not succeed (Proverbs 16:3).

When things break or when plans change, how should we respond? We need to step back, trust God, and wait to see how He is going to use the situation for His glory. Faith Lesson: Because God is in control, we have nothing to fear if our plans, dreams, and schedules are entrusted to His care.

In Christ,
Darin Smith
