I heard a good suggestion on the radio yesterday. If you are struggling finding time for the Lord, please stop to and take a look at this:

There are 24 hours in a day. Assume 8 hours spent at work, 8 hours sleeping - leaving 8 hours of 'free' time.

That equates to 480 minutes per day of free time. Tithe 10% of that to God, give him 48 minutes per day for prayer, study of the word, etc. As you grow, you will find more and more time to give to Him.

Hi Kelly,
that is great! It is amazing how most people do not spend enough time with Jesus.. I started small and worked up more and more as I went along. I will admit some days, it has not been one of my priorities.

I had trouble finding time as well. But the best idea is to spend as little time doing things you need to, such as eating, do nothing fun, nothing at all, and record how long that period of time is. You will find that you have FAR more free time than you think. This is the great illusion of the west.

I do already ;)

Are you serious - I hope not

My free time or fun time as you would call it consists of doing constructive things (you may of course not agree, and that is your perogative). I play the fiddle in a couple of fiddle groups, I am a first aider/trainer with St Andrew's Ambulance Corps, I help with a local Duke of Edinburgh's Award Group, I am a Sundayschool Teacher, do you want me to continue.......;)

Now remind me once again of all this free time that I have ;)

You mistake me for being against using free time. The method above what simply to realise the free time you have. Free time in a literal sense is useless, it simply means time in which you have nothing constructive to do.
I understand you fully :D

I was merely pointing out that I have no time (at least very very little) when in your words I "have nothing constructive to do"

I certainly have nothing like the 8 hours that you seem to think people have, but then that is just me, maybe others do have these 8 hours.

(I am aware it was not you who initially said we had 8 hours free time, but it equally applies to any amount of free time)

As long as you have something meaninful to do, then that is good. Free time is simply time in which nothing has yet been planned, and until it is filled, is meaningless.
I do not mean to sound rude or arrogant with my following comment and I applogise in advance if it appears that way, but as I have said before Bizzlebin I have no free time/ spare time, so what am I supposed to do?

Hey, what station? Funny I just heard the same thing as I was listening too yesterday! Mabye same broadcast?

I find it's best if I get down with the bible really early in the morning. It's one of those things like excercise, that I know are ESSENTIAL to me but I will find a million other things I gotta get done first! Since I made it my ritual to do my reading and praying and devotions before I get out of bed (in my case from 5:30 to 6:30 am) it always gets done, then I feel like I'm in Good Hands for the entire day!

I don't mean to sound like it's a chore to do my reading and spending time with God, it's not that at all, in case it sounds that way...I love my time with God and continue to converse with Him through my day. I just know I need that special time with Him, that quality and quantative time, and if I let myself get unfocused, I put the most important things last, after everyone else, kids, DH, etc...so mornings work for me!
